1. Volume level of the P990. This is okay for me but I have now tested a K800 and the sound levels to be much higher, so I know what Spawn is talking about.

Hehe Jah, see i was right all along...its not so much the quality of the audio playback on the p990i, its the actual overall volume thats of concern to me.
But doesnt really bother me anymore as i dont use the p990i as my audio player, been using the k800i and it works superb with much better volume than the p990i. Shame realy as i bought a 4gb mem stick pro duo for the p990i.

Has anyone noticed that they are starting to get more memory the longer you have the phone and the more restarts you do? When I first got the phone, it had about 13 MB at startup before updating. After firmware update, I had around 14 MB, and eventually it got up to 15 MB and stayed there for a while. But today, I saw my first 16.2 MB on startup! Now each time I startup, I have over 16 MB. The most recent one was 16.4! Is there any logical reason for these gains and is anyone else experiencing a similar phenomenon?

i also notice the phone is getting more stable everyday...the answer maybe that, because i donīt check memory often

also, i think we can expect a new firmware soon, just look at what anotherguest, developer of ScummVm for UIQ 3 says here

Latest firmwares for M600 and P990 has distored sound due to a bad fix in the audio integration. Will be fixed in a new upgrade. (Fix is already implemented, but has to go out to the upgrade site).

Dunno mate, the most i get after the update and quite a few re-starts is about 14 mb of ram at startup. After running a few apps, it goes down to about 7-8mb of ram...most of that is taken up by worldmate pro program i recently bought...takes about 1.5mb of ram for itself:eek:, so quite a memory hog the program is.
At the mo i have 7.2mb of ram available....thats with the media player running for the quick menu transitions and also worldmate pro.

I believe that all those bugs will be fixed once the new releases of the firmware are publised, but anyhow I havent got the P990i yet since it is expected to be on the shops within this week or the next. I've been waiting for this for ages now. A bit off-topic but the price listed in Greece is €645.

I start off with 14 MB and as more apps are opened, it goes down to 7-8 MB.

I would like to know the secret of getting more MB as I restart the P990i as I'm getting the same number of MB since day one.

Well i found that by re-booting the phone earlier on today and just leaving it left me with 16mb of ram now although i havent done the media player trick which speeds up the menu.
Closing down apps via the task manager helps as well, but would be helpful that once you press back in an app, the task manager actually shuts it down or at least asks you if you want to keep it open or close it down.
The p990i definitely needs better memory management in my opinion.

1. Delete all Private Data from Opera
2. Delete unwanted games (e.g. Golf) and apps from main memory (I don't play games so I deleted all the games apps that were installed by default (yes I am a boring person!)
3. Re-boot and leave unused for 5/10 minutes

I managed a max of 16.2mb using this procedure

I'm having a problem connecting my P990i to my PC using bluetooth. I was able to pair them but everytime I used the mRouter to connect, it gives me the error message "Failed to connect: Incorrect function" or something like that. Odd because I was able to connect to PC Sync during my first time.

Will update the firmware to the latest version - hopefully it fixes this problem. Has anyone else encountered this?

@chadsotelo

this is very complex subject because there are so many variables.

This is what I did as my laptop has its own Toshiba BT:

1. When I paired I asked to bond manually and selected the m-router (serial) service and not the others offered by the P990
2. I was then told by the BT s/w that COM port 40 was setup for the serial connection
3. From the mrouter utility on the task tray I selected teh Advanced tab abd Viewed the existing connections. I selected COM port 40 from the available ports and the mrouter utilitiy recognised this as a connections under the category of Additional COM Ports

One of the most irritating bugs of the P-Series is IMO the alarm bug. The alarm doesnt "ring" ( ) once the phone is switched off...

Hope they have fixed that...

If calendar is not running it's not possible to make a new calendar item from activity menu.
The phone shows sign "busy" and hangs up.
