Hi all,
ten days since the last post in this thread and i just thought that rather than in the firmware or general P990 thread this would of been a good place to post.

My calendar alarm reminder keeps ringing until I click "done"! Is there a way of having it ring only once and then stop, like with all the non-symbian SE phones?
I would appreciate an answer here as this would merely have me not to use the calendar function of my phone again
Thanks in advance
I forgot to mention that I am refering to my new P990i phone (sorry)

Here's a small problem: when I change the FC wallpaper, the FO wallpaper gets zoomed out all on its own so I have to go in and change the FO wallpaper again. Strange.

I've had the same problem... Guess this is one of the bugs that will dissapear in time. A bit irritating but at least it doesn't crash the phone.

If are having problems with accessing Gmail on T-mobile try:

1. Open Connection Manager
2. Select Settings>Internet Accounts from the drop down menu
3. Select your GPRS provider (e.g. T-mobile GPRS)
4. From the drop down menu (title: Data Account) select Login
5. Chnage Authnetication from PAP to CHAP

Also I found you need to make sure you are not using a Proxy server (again see Data Account menu options)

Others:

1. Volume level of the P990. This is okay for me but I have now tested a K800 and the sound levels to be much higher, so I know what Spawn is talking about.

2. Messaging app crashing when Media Player is running. This happens as the P990 does suffer very badly from memory leaks, so you can get a very low amount of RAM which I think means this problem can occur.

If you check the free ram first... then start the message-app and check it again you loose aprox 3mb... but in task manager it says 167k! Why doesn't the task manager tells you how much memory that is actually used with the diffrent apps? What does the phone get the low 167k from? Is that just what SE wanted it to be? Not the actual memory-usage?

After using Wifi, My Shortcut changed to the screen display as shown below.

I believe that there is a mechanical or software switching problem which caused it to happen. I FO then used the stylus to click on the My Shortcut.

My shortcut bug display at FO, same with display at FC.

Correct My Shortcut display at FO.

Correct My Shortcut display at FC.

^^^ I noticed that happened a few times on my p990i as well, kinda annoying but just checking now, its back to the way it should be. Dont know why it does that.

Another annoying little bug i find is the shortcut screen in FC mode, cant really add anything there of any use, i find the shortcut screen in FO mode to be alot more better.

Hopefully SE will rectify this in the next firmware, as i love to be able to add divert calls to the shortcut screen in FC mode.

Okay, I have one thing to say that is really stupid with this phone. After you use the Camera application and close the lens, the app stays running in the background. This makes sense for all other apps, but you can't really multitask with the Camera application. It is such a memory hog that Task Manager should just shut it down when you close the lens. Hopefully SE will fix this sometime soon. Anyone agree?

^^^ Try killing off apps that maybe running, probably low memory is why your getting crashes. Otherwise give the phone a re-boot to flush the memory.

the operating system will automatically shut down applications as it needs more memory, and it does this by priority

in reality there should be no need to manually close applications

Has anyone noticed that they are starting to get more memory the longer you have the phone and the more restarts you do? When I first got the phone, it had about 13 MB at startup before updating. After firmware update, I had around 14 MB, and eventually it got up to 15 MB and stayed there for a while. But today, I saw my first 16.2 MB on startup! Now each time I startup, I have over 16 MB. The most recent one was 16.4! Is there any logical reason for these gains and is anyone else experiencing a similar phenomenon?
