Could someone please post a link to the latest firmware please. That would be great

Thanks a lot.

You can update your phone by downloading and installing SE's update service at:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/d[....]UpdateService_Inst_2.6.4.9.exe
Just download and install the program first in your computor.
When you start the program for the first time it updates it self to version 2.6.7.9.
After that just follow the instructions on the screen:
- Your phone battery must be fully charged.
- Turn of your phone
- Remove your SIM card
- put your battery in again
- Connect the synccable to your phone
- Hold C
- Connect the synccable to your computor
- Release the C
- then you get instructions on the computor screen

My update took 13 minutes from start to finish.

You can see what version you have in:
- Main menu
- Tools
- More
- Systeminformation

Well..after trying many times unsuccesfully to update the firmware at home as well as at other blaptops (broadband 512), i have managed to do it by visiting a modern internet cafe with up to date equipment and 4 Mbit download speeds..You will also need the latest java environment as well as proper firewall settings..Good luck..By the way, new firmware great improvement!

I have upgraded to the latest JVM, uninstalled and reinstalled the update service application, deleted the blob files and redownloaded the software, reformatted the C drive (master reset), removed the memory stick and still the update service fails just after it starts to attempt to update the phone.

Has anyone any other ideas? I don't have another computer to use.

Did mine yesterday as well, took around 15 mins in total but first had some problems as it kept device not recognised and found it was due to a driver missing. So i uninstalled everything pc suite and drivers and re-installed them, then tried it again and this time it worked perfectly.

Cant say ive noticed any difference in this firmware other than having a few apps open while browsing the net..didnt seem to crash on me like before.
Start up ram im getting about 14mb at boot up which isnt much of a difference to the first firmware. Also noticed the little tone played at end of each phone call.

Seems to be all good here

Nope.. I have mailed the tech-support and made them aware of the problem. We have to wait and hope for a new ver. For icq-user you can use jimm. jimm.org/nightly for the latest ver.

@karlossus

sorry, but did you:

- switch-off any firewalls or anti-virus s/w
- re-delete the blob_fs files and redownload them (keep an eye on the download progress bar to make sure all the files are downloaded)

Are you using as dial-up or broadbacnd connection? The reason I had a problem was that I was testing HSDPA on my PCMCIA card and trying to use the cellular wireless network (t-mobile) to download the firmware files to see what download speeds I could get - but this method was very unreliable.

Hi Jah, I have firewall and AV switched off and I have downloaded the blob files several times now. I am on a broadband connection which is reliable if not the speediest.

Stumped.

@@karlossus

- make sure you are not using a usb hub
- make sure your battery is fully charged
- if using a laptop power from the mains
- delete the com port/p990 from the Hardware Devices to force reinstall of drivers
