Fantastic, this will prob be the 'offical' firmware, considering that the phone is meant to be released by the operators in the next two weeks...

Anyone tested the updatemanager today? I'm at work and can't...

Has anything happened yet?

Dogmann,

I concur with you and I have the P990i with me for about a week now.

I've paid full retail price for the P990i and expect a bug free handphone. Right now, I feel like I'm a beta tester and SE should have gave me beta prices.

Here are my beef with the P990i right now.

1) I've not read any first reviews about the signal reception of the P990i. When the P990i is in dual mode, 3G and GSM, the signal bar will fluctuate between 1, 2 and 3 bars and vice versa. BTW, My N70 is still at full bar at the same location. Yes, I've experienced drop calls.

2) The speakers are softer than my Nokia N70.

3) When you file transfer using BT, the files will be put into the Inbox. I don't understand the need to FO(Flip open) to read my notes and to view jpeg files when it it is in the Inbox.

4) I've been experiencing a few times the Delete tab from the drop down list in sms/text mode missing. You have to go out of the sms/text programme and return back to sms to see the Delete tab reappear again.

5) Another problem is deleting files that is BT transferred to the Inbox. I am unable to delete the file at first and have to go out of the sms/text programme and return back to delete that file.

6) At one time, the handphone just shutdowns itself when I plug in the charger.

7) No CLOCK screen saver and you only have a pitch black screen and you have no visual confirmation that your handphone is really powered up or it is dead. If there are third party options for a clock screen saver and you have to pay, why does Nokia handphone has the clock screen saver as a standard feature.

8] No Blackberry support out of the box yet.

9) No recording of FM radio. SE has not kept their promise of recording FM when it was first announced.

10) When you forward your sms/text from the Inbox, you will get the "Foward from +Number" included in your forwarded message. I hope that there is a possibility for an option of not putting the "Forward from +Number" as there is a 160 character limits for sms.

I have more or less experienced the same problems as you .
Most disturbing for me (as it could very well be a hardware problem and maybe cannot be fixed trough software update):
-signal bar fluctuating VERY hard , especially when in the car on the highway .
-N70 has way better sound quality and volume
-so little OS memory

Also had some more strange things :
*when i receive a file trough bluetooth , it tells me to open the flip . when i open the flip sometimes the program crashes somehow . After that it's impossible to save anything you get trough bluetooth even wth flip open before transfer , error is 'item cannot be saved' . phone power off/on , then suddenly all files which could not be saved are saved .

*The screen stays bright all the time , then suddenly after touching some buttons and leaving it , it goes in powersave after all .

*when receiving more than 1 file trough bluetooth , you cannot save them all . also you cannot go back to the bluetooth received screen .

*IMAP : when i subscibe myself to a few folders , then press do not show read emails , it totally flips and makes some mails unread and places them in the wrong folders etc.

*lots of !Msvserver reason number 3 Kern_exec errors .

*camera slides open too easy , it opens a lot on accident while getting it out of my pocket .

*No automatic flash on the camera

I am trying to update my phone trough the Updater tool , but it sais my phone is up to date , while it isn't .

i am running (5 phones all the same)
R4B001
R4F01
R2A04
R1A03

:edit : i phoned up sony ericsson support , according to them there are no official updates yet available :s

Just tried updating now andupdate was succesful:
before:
Organiser: CXC162036 R3A04
Phone: CXC162037 R5A006
Bluetooth: CXC162058 R4F01
CDA: CDA162007/1 R3A03

After:
Organiser: CXC162036 R3A04
Phone: CXC162037 R5A006
Bluetooth: CXC162058 R4F01
CDA: CDA162007/2 R3A03

The only thing thats change is the CDA from "/1" to "/2"

It did not give a sign that I already had the latest update, it went through the entire update process.

Hey Muzikfreakah,

Thanks for the update. Can you try Agile Messenger? If it works, that's a sign that something has been changed and the firmware update allows the app to be run. Something to do with Java I think, but a SonyEricsson tech in another forum promised the firmware update would be out first week of September to allow such apps to work.

That's strange. I've only updated my firmware once since new and I have the /2 in my CDA. Maybe your first update didn't complete properly?
