Fast Port connector: how fast? (and other niggling questions) |

The title says it all.
Newer SonyEricsson phones have a new connector called Fast Port. It will soon be introduced on their budget models, hence my interest
All I could find that was relevant while doing a search here was this thread complaining about a new connector

I don't have any of the new Walkman Phones or the K750i or whatever, so, a few questions:
*how fast is it?
*Does the speed vary with third-party DCU-60 cables? (which I plan to buy when I get a cheap second SE phone with the Fast Port soonish.
*Does the speed vary with third-party software like MyPhoneExplorer from http://members.aon.at/fwechsel/en/ , which I use to back up my SMS?
*Does the speed vary depending on the phone? Even with the old connector, my older SonyEricsson T230 could only work with MyPhoneExplorer at 9,600 baudrate, while my SonyEricsson K500i works at 921,600 baudrate). So that's why I ask.
*Speaking of SMS, why do SonyEricsson limit the amount of SMS to 100 on a phone that can hold 12MB, like my K500i? Why do they not mention speakerphone in the manual and wait for me to accidentally discover it? And just where do I attach the carry strap on my K500i? Why isn't this mentioned in the manual? Questions, questions
Appreciate any answers!

I can't give you exact answers, but here is what I think:
How fast is it ?
Well.... It depends on the phone, for a K750 via USB it is about 0.4MBps which is much slower than even USB 1.1 spec.
Does the speed vary with third-party cables?
I don't think it would, especially you wont notice any speed drop with current SE models anyway.
Does the speed vary with third-party software like MyPhoneExplorer?
In most cases Yes. For example I cant achieve 0.4MBps with MyphoneExplorer’s file transfer function (Sorry cant remember the exact speed but it was much slower than USB). So I guess it depend how each application transfer data, but if two applications are using the same method then both should perform similarly.
Does the speed vary depending on the phone?
Yes
Speaking of SMS, why do SonyEricsson limit the amount of SMS to 100....
Sorry, don't know why.
