Why did they do that!!! SE changed the systemconnector on the new K750i. They call it fast port.
Why did they do that??? |

well mate you answered your own question, because they changed it coz like you said its a fast port.  and by the way it looks much smaller and better.

idiots. what about the accesoires i wanna use. will they launch the whole palette once again with a new connector. this idea came NOT from sweden, thats for sure...

It will be irritating if its not compatible with all our old chargers & accessories 
e.g. I've got a DeskStand, CAR-100, MPF-10 Flash & a collection of chargers so theres always one handy.

u really don't know where the idea came in & most likely it was joint as they must both surely agree. Accept SE as one company & not Ericsson competing with Sony.
SE has been a much greater success than either Sony or Ericsson would have been individually

Time has come and need for a change.. Must be a hard time in 2005, but yeaih... new stuff with new things.. That's is special..
I have try the new desk stand for K750i or W800i... seem Old stand is easy port in and port out.. I tried this in Cebit Yesterday... Really awesome.. Won't regret to go there.. |

Change is generally for the better & I'm all for it but could they not have incorporated the new electrics with a backwards compatible structure?

Nothing works for ever. Even my 4 year old PC starts to become incompatible with newer and better hardware. Not everything is possible to make backward compatible.
They changed the connector to increase the transfer speed and to be able to add USB 2.0 support, which was not possible with the old connector. In future even the fast port may be changed if they find something better.
That's called evolution (it happens to humans and animals too).

I understand the electronic changes but my point is that maybe they could have made those changes but kept mechanical compatibility so at least u can plug in existing chargers etc

I understood what you ment. But new electronic more often than not requires new connectors as well to work. Beside, requirement on voltage level, current and many other things may have changed as well and hence can't work with old accessories anyway.

well no one is telling you to buy a knew phone you can stick to the old phones or the knew ones that still have the old connectors  lifes easy with multiple choices aint they?

Have to say that it's the right time for them to start a new generation of high speed cable connection, a must for new multimedia fuction built in. The company is on track.
