sent my V3i back to Expansys and got an O2 8800 today.

taking the phone out of the box it felt heavy and solid but with good quality. In the box is 2 batteries, a mains adaptor, a desk stand which accomodates the phone and the spare battery, a headset, cd rom with the pc suite and the manual and a leaflet describing the 8800.

after charging the phone tonight I've started to play and of course the first thing I wanted to do was to sync my outlook data.

The pc suite installed perfectly then came the realisation... how was I going to connect the phone to my pc a quick look led me to believe there was no infra red and in the box there was no USB cable supplied! fortunately my vaio laptop has bluetooth so I was lucky but I bet this has caught a few people out.

The sync settings was straight forward and the sync completed effortlessly except that it seems I get a memory full message when trying to sync a years worth of calendar and all my contacts.

thats where I'm up to right now so here are a few quick pics

I guess I can sort of see why people like the styling but I'll need a day or two going through the functionality before deciding any more about this phone

yeah, £19 for 12 months

I've switched my kids from vodafone to o2 and this sim is to switch my wife though I'll be staying on Vodafone.

Got £35 cashback too as I use quidco whenever possible

@masseur

Didn't you manage to get one for £300 from play.com when they had that crazy offer...or was that someone else?

I waited 2 weeks and then inquired where it was as my order still said waiting for stock, but when I called they decided they were out of stock and cancelled my order

@masseur it will be interesting to get your views once you have had a chance to play with the phone a little, (like the blue neon on the desktop charger).
I actually like the phone's weight and finish, IMO it has a nice quality feel about it.
I will also interesting to read what you think of the camera with it's SVGA 800x600 pixel capability.

hmmm that's out of order on their part...surely they've messed up as a contract existed between you and play.com, even though they probably didn't take money out of ur account, they initially agreed to supply you with the phone so they shouldn't be able to just cancel your order (i.e. go back on their word)...just a thought.

a couple of pics from the camera, my usual diet coke can

the second is not too bad. I'll do some daylight ones tomorrow, and some video

first is with night mode off

and the second with night mode on

@loyal2thgame, in their confirmation email it links to their terms and conditions where it seems in point 5 the contract begins when they take payment. I decided there was no point in hassling over it

yeh it would be a lot of hassle especially with their terms and conditions and their interpretation of what "acceptance" is.

Anyway the phone looks sweet, i love the subtle blue light surrounding the desktop charger...class.

ive had my 8800 for around 6 days now. its not the best phone features wise, but i love the styling and feel of the phone. The charging dock is cool, although it makes a funny noise when its plugged into a charger(same kind of noise a disposable camera makes when you hit the flash button.)

I don't like this phone one little bit, nice build but thats where ends for me..don't know what people see in this very badly designed handset?..I thought Nokia would do something special after the excellent 8850/90 but no the series has lost its appeal now, unless nokia bring out a better line of 8800 series phones. right well I'm on the train having grabbed the 8800 and the headset on my way out the door. I like to listen to the radio on my journey to the office.

I am miffed to find that not only do they not supply a data cable but the headset is a single ear headset only so no way am I going to use the 8800 for my radio listening pleasure with that. Thankfully I have my trusty K750 with me!

If I had paid sim free prices of over 500 pounds for this only to find missing items as basic as these I would be very very upset

@masseur, when you get the chance would you take a picture or two outside in daylight so I can see how the 8800 performs ?
