I was at the opening ceremony yesterday night. It was fantastic and amazing. I cannot find the words to describe it. The organization was great from the moment you get into the public transportation till you get to the stadium and vice versa. I was really surprised with the security measures. Very strict but without annoying the spectators. At some point I watched the sky and noticed five military helicopters and one small military plane as well as the surveilance zeppelin.
For the opening ceremony... it was beautiful with plenty of elements describing the history of Greece from the ancient times till today. Once I read the programme of the opening ceremony I realised even more the meaning of every character and event that took place.
I really cannot describe it. It was a galaxy of stars all over the stadium when a comet put the flames on the Olympic Circles. There was so many elements that I need a whole book to describe it.
Am really happy that I was at the opening ceremony yesterday night.
Check also this thread to see some photos taken with my P900.

Slovakia is little country but we already have 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze. Yesterday we have a bad luck on the wild olympic water. Gold was taken out to our canoeist M. Martikan after race. :-(

that's what happens when you make him carry three passengers.
seriously though, the other three in the relay team were well below their best.
