K700 online update service is back up! |
tors Joined: Jul 22, 2004 Posts: 43 From: Sweden PM |
I can report having a similar problem, unbranded k700.
installation goes up to 60+% and then jumps to 92%...
Then "Error communicating with device", "Remove battery and restart...."
The phone seems flashed though but my languages are gone. Only "Automatic" and "English" left.
I have found some clues in the log file in the installation directory of SEUS, my path C:\Program\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\log\mySEUSlog.log
This is the part when the installation is up to 60~70% and decides to jump to 92%

to anyone who has successfully updated their K700i to R2L using the online update service, do your phones work perfectly after the upgrade? mine did not encounter any error but i'm experiencing serious problems with regards to memory issues. i can no longer save any multimedia content (pics, movies, mp3, etc) on my phone even if i still have all 42MB free! my phone doesn't accept any more files via BT or IR. also the tennis game stops at the loading screen (bouncing ball). i also made 2 video clips which i cannot delete even after i do a master reset. that online update service ruined my phone. i brought my phone to a local service center and they don't know what to do. better check your phones after the upgrade. hope this doesn't happen to anyone who used this online update service. btw anyone out there who experienced something similar i would like to know what you did to fix your K700i. |

That confused me for a while! After installing seus_setup115.exe go back to http://www.sonyericsson.com/updateservice/K700/frameset.htm and you should find that you can now perform a firmware upgrade.
It's just a pitty that it doesn't work on my O2 branded K700 .

mwarner, thanx for the tip,but already tried that several times it always checks the client application installation and then starts downloading the same file again,so I guess there must be some other possible cause,Im comfused and at the end after reading several posts about problems occured after that update, maybe its better to pass on this offer,if you could say that. |

Yeah, just install the drivers and go to the update site. The instructions should take you from there. Taking out the SIM card is a good idea, too. If it doesn't work without it, put it back in. I think it works either way, but it's less risky with the SIM card removed.

Thanks ! But do I need to install any software that comes with K700i CD in order for my K700i to work with DSS-25??

I have 2 mp3 files that I can't delete. It says "Can't be deleted, protected file"
But can't see any other problems, yet..

many thanks for your input re: java. i hate java. had the latest version installed on my laptop (xp sp2) and got the same errors all the time. then tried on another computer (clean install xp sp2) with i guess microsoft java integrated (not on the add/remove programs list anyway). update at least then started to work.....
i hate O2! update was not allowed!
anyone with O2 tried to use the 'recovery mode' update? was thinking of trying it but worried may render phone useless

Sorry, recovery mode doesn't work with O2 phones either. And what's more, the conversation I've had with O2 today doesn't help. They told me to take the phone to a service centre. I told them that said they wouldn't be aable to upgrade the phone "until O2 authorises firmware releases". O2 told me that was rubbish.
Hmmm. I've try again tomorrow. |

Think you can't do that as the update replaces the whole firmware even the IR part ! (phone must be OFF)
And, do you think it is safer than USB ?

Ok, Ive been away for a while and have skimmed through this thread.
I see that Orange customers have been able to use this service to upgrade their firmware.
Does this mean the 'customisations' Orange made are gone?(removal of shortcuts and the stupid icons on main screen). |
