masseur!
your a star!! Thanks!
but.....
" click the messaging button, then the centre settings soft key, then scroll down to "Email Msg Setup" "
If I select the 'blue envelope icon' and then hit the centre button, I get a menu with the title 'message centre'
This contains - New Message, Message Inbox, etc,..
But there is no Email Msg Setup option..
Maybe I am getting tired! hahaha! But I will persist!!
Got this V3 with a Motorola HS 820 headset from Phones4u.
Still a lot of reading to do and the cd still to explore, but your links were too tempting, so I will read those first!
Can't beat experience, I feel!

@ofiaich, sorry, can't help you much then, except to show you my options in that screen
@BobaFett, I guess we can see that you don't like motorolas but why post a bunch of negatives on this thread where we are enjoying ourselves?
as for SMS receipts, its no big deal. On the final screen where you click send you have the option to set the receipt so its just a couple of clicks
edit: and now it appears you are not even following the conversation
he's looking for email setup!

Thanks masseur,
our menu's are different!
I can't find anything about setting up email in the manual or the phones menu's!
Thanks for taking the time to post those images...
I wonder if this is an O2 prepay firmware? Hummmm, I know what I mean! Hahaha!

thats the menu I get when I press the messaging button. but if you then press the top middle button (the one between the two soft keys represented by the horiztonal lines on screen) it gives me the menu I showed you in my last post, what do you see in that menu?

Oh!
I will try that now....
Not sure why the picture is so dirty looking!
but no 'send/receive emails' and 'email message setup' options!
I guess O2 pay and go just removed them!
Thanks very much for posting and helping me!

@masseur may i say sg?
@oifiach i called my friend, he has got branded v3 and he his has has no email setup aswell. forgot to ask which operator was it from ( both of us are in austria ), but it seems, the messing feature could be the branding.
edit: he called me back now, he was wrong, he has the email setup, but cannot edit it

according to the O2 payg V3 page it is supposed to have the email client and in all my V3 discussions I have not so far heard of it being missing... so this is very strange and definitly worth a call to O2

Yes, I can see 'email client' on the link that you gave!
I will call them tomorrow. It is rather strange.
I can't imagine why it would be removed.
I will also call Phones4u but guess I won't get very far with them.
I will post the results of my calls!
EDIT - I cannot believe it is because I am using a Contract sim instead of a Pay and go... because the menu's are firmware programming..
SECOND EDIT - I put the pay and go sim in the V3 and the menus are the same. No sign of an email client.
But I guessed that exercise would be a waste of time!
One question for masseur! What network is your V3 on?

Well,
o2 pay and go said that they do not offer email on their pre-pay service so there will not be a pop/imap setup in the menu's of the Motorola V3.
They did say that a contract Motorola V3 will probably have different firmware that allows a pop account to be setup.
Hummmmm,

thats terrible, especially when its advertised on their site as being a payg feature.
and anyway, just because they do not provide an email service on payg doesn't mean you wont want to use any other service you use.
take a look into that mobile-review link I gave and/or maybe threex will pop in and offer advice on how you might re-enable the feature assuming it is simply disabled, assuming you fancy trying your luck with a bit of hex editing, which apparantly is quite easy on the motorolas
good luck!

Hi masseur,
Yes, the representative said I can use o2 and other email accounts through wap. But he also felt that the o2 shop would update the firware to 'contract firmware' for me.

A bit of hex editing? Wow! I am sure to put a hex on the V3! I will take another look at the mobile review site!
The feature cannot be seen, as compared with just being greyed out!
I know the best way would have been to get the V3 on the O2 upgrade, but it seemed to be a waste of a good upgrade with so many other goodies just around the corner!
Thanks again!

Hi everyone!
perhaps my last question about the V3!
I assigned a ringtone, Law and Order, to a name, Fred.... and when Fred sends me a text message, the ringtone plays!
I have tried to fathom out, how to have the ringtone play for his voice calls, then an ordinary kind of sms tone for his text messages, but cannot work out what to do.
Any ideas or advice welcomed!
