My mobile is SE K508i. It's ok when I used GPRS to connect to WAP.
But it's not ok when I connected to internet for to browse WEB page.
I've done :
- Connected SE K508i to laptop via infrared.
- Made a new internet connection used above connection(standard modem over IR link#3) and an ISP account.
- Dialed up to Internet.
But, after some modem signal, Windows displayed an error message :"Error 678: The remote computer did not response ..."
Pls, help me to solve this problem.
Thanks.

do you have full web gprs active or is it just wap access...

Settings on SE K508i :
Connectivity -> Internet settings -> Internet profiles : Connect using GPRS (internet mode : http, ip address: of service provider)

Great...to be able to connect to the internet on your pc/laptop using your phone as a modem, you need to have full web gprs active on your account...just basic gprs will not allow you to browse www websites on pc...it would help if you could find out and post what kind of access you have....
Step 2: check if your phone is set up correctly as a modem...go to control panel> phones and modems> select modem properties> diagnostics> query modem
You should get a box saying " communicating with modem"...when the query is complete...there will be a query log that will appear...scroll down to where you see "x" "server address", where "x" is the number you dial in the dialup code "*99***x#...use the code in your new dialup connection and you should be connected

Oh! sorry !
In control panel of Windows the standard modem over IR link is not present. Because its driver software did not install

Posted by mrao
Aha.....thats the culprit....okay...i suppose you did get an installation CD with the IrDA adapter.., didnt you
Posted by FierceChildhood
Yead...because i did not have it. Where is it driver software??
Posted by mrao

I think I might have that problem. See here.
How do I find out if I have full GPRS or not?
Posted by amd1129
Ask ur network operator
Posted by FierceChildhood
To CaRMaN: I think that you had connected to internet, but could not browser the WEB page !?
In my case, I could not connect to internet (server of ISP).
There 2 phases when you want to browse web page :
The first : Connecting to server of ISP (dialup use the mobile as a modem).
The second : Using web browser (for example: IE) to browse pages on web sites.
Who have experienses of this, psl, help me !

OKay...saw your query log....are you using *99***1# as the dialup code??

How can I use *99***1#...
In the Diagnostics there is only button "Query Modem" after that Windown auto Diagnostic.
I did not see where can I put the : *99***1#
Posted by mrao
aaahhh....thats the number you dial in your dial up connection....
Posted by FierceChildhood
Where can I put it ??
I can only put it in the network connection, not in the query modem..
Posted by mrao
Username: leave it blank
Password: leave it blank
Dial up #: *99***1#
Click ok..to start dialing...make sure your IR adapter is plugged in and the IR on phone is switched on too
Posted by FierceChildhood
What can I do next ??
Posted by mrao
Now....do you have an Internet explorer icon on your desktop...you know..the blue "e"...
hehe..just kidding...just open your browser window and start browsing....
By the way...the connection speed you just mentioned is the link between pc and phone
Posted by FierceChildhood
Oh! I can not browse any page for example : http://www.bbc.com/
The number *99... is not ISP's number !?

"web" gprs on my account must is actived by Provider ?
or active on my mobile ?
Posted by mrao
web gprs account has to be activated by your network provider....usually they charge you extra money for this....to get it activated you have to call your provider and tell them to activate it...if its not already active
Posted by FierceChildhood
Thank you very much ! I 'll call the Service Provider...
Pls, tell me whose is this number: *99***1# ?
and Where do I connect to when dialing up number *99***1# ?
Posted by mrao
okay...the *99***1# is not a tel no but the dialup code used by the connection to access the data account on your phone...1 is the data account # for the gprs account, 2 for the mms account as per the query log...cheers..and dont worry bout it..just a matter of tinkering around and you should be surfi the web in no time...happened to me loads of times in the past.
