@dog - Nice dog mate - Otis ! Your N93 is a 3 megapixel digicam or just - 2 Outdoor shots like that can be taken . . . sharper dude, put more on some practice I remember when you took some shots of Otis - indoors . . . those were really - sharp More . . . pelase - Marc . . .

Hi JoJo,
The problem is firstly my meds currently mean i can't even drive and trying to see to adjust anything just isn't possible. Plus animals tend to move just when you don't want them to. But i know must try harder but its too cold to try to adjust settings just for now point and shoot will have to do and remember this next firmware improves certain aspects of the camera's functions.

Marc

@dog - OK< now worries here mate . . . but as they say . . . PRACTICE makes CHOPSTICKS - Keep on shooting dude . . . put some tranquilizer (injection) on Otis, so that you won't have problems taking pics of him - moving

As per - vga's request (page 2/volume 1/series of 2006)

Besides mentioning the comparison test, I would like to describe what I had chosen to set up for an 'informal still life' comparison test which was registered by my NOKIA 6265, at VGA (640x480) and 1600x1200. A few months ago I published a report in Rio de Janeiro's big daily newspaper "O GLOBO". You may see the scanned image in this link: http://www.jornalorebate.com/armando/03.htm I spread out the newspaper on our dining table and I put a DVD-RAM mini disk (2.8GB) on top of the newspaper. I also put a 4x6" colour print of a tiny Rollei 35 camera which I had bought in the early 1980s. Well, you can see 4 (four) cameras in the photos which were taken by my phone camera. On the top of the newspaper article, you may see me holding a Leica M3, this photo was taken in Rio in 1955. Beside it you can see me using a Mamiya 6x7 reflex, this photo was taken in a studio in Rio in 1975. I photographed the Rollei 35 with a Contax camera, equipped with a Zeiss macro lens in 1984 in São Paulo when I worked for the Kyocera company. The Panasonic DVD-RAM camcorder is also shown, this camera took the VGA photos of the cat and the close-up of the flower which were published in the newspaper "O GLOBO". An old waitress holding an A3 size laser print (enlarged from a 1600x1200 image) the photo was photographed by my NOKIA 6265 at the VGA size. On the right hand corner of the image, you may see my hands, (reflected from a small round mirror) holding my phone camera as I clicked the photos. These two images are 'real-time' instant digital images. Photo : A112 was taken at VGA, it produced an image in the JPG format, 'weighing' 187KB. Photo: A114 was taken at 1600x1200 in the same JPG format, it weighed 543KB. You may also examine some of my photos which were uploaded in the Phone Photos Gallery....my signature: VGA. http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/ Two of my photos were rated at the 23rd. and 100th. positions during the first week.

Table-Top Comparison Test: 640x480 (VGA) vs. 1600x1200

Image 1 : 640x480 (VGA)

Image 2 : 1600x1200

Jojo,

Thanks again! You have helped me post two new digital photos in this forum. Strangely enough, the VGA (640x480) photo seems to be sharper than the one which was set at 1600x1200.

Perhaps I got too close to the subject matter and it was slightly out-of-focus! My photos which obtained the 23rd. and 100th positions were 'downgraded'! Instead of having a higher score (points), both of them were 'lowered'! A few days ago the score was much better, today both of them are not included in the top 200 !

I will now try to post a sharp (high resolution) image which was obtained in the VGA size (640x480), it was taken by my camcorder's Aspherical optical zoom 10x lens, set at the wide angle/macro mode.

I hope that members of the forum are now aware that GOOD quality photos may be obtained by using VGA!....which is merely 1/3 (one-third) of 1 MP.

Jojo, thanks a lot

Armando Rozário -

Cabo Frio - BRAZIL - December 05, 2006

P.S. I will try to post the photo again soon, I wasn't lucky! I will upload it in the Phone Photos section tomorrow....a real close 'self-portrait' of my 'ASPH' lens! [A.R.]

Posted by *Jojo*
@Sir-vga : You are welcome I know that everything will totally depend how the pic was TAKEN . . . but then again, the megapixel-factor still will always be a - factor.

I manage to (and some of our co-members here as well) take nice pics when I still had my K700 back then (VGA camera) . . . I will try to post the LINK with my next post so you can see . . .

A Christmas-pic Image . . . taken from: vga's - Nokia 6265 camfone:

For all of us in the forum !

Posted by wap123
was taken with a 6270 at 1600*1200 but was resized in mms to vga, stewps

Posted by VGA
wap123,

A suggestion....don't 'resize' your image, the result would be much better, if it were presented in the original size. As a veteran professional photographer who joined Esato in November 2006 I would like to offer a helping hand in the same manner that Jojo has been helping me during the past weeks. Another suggestion, don't use the digital zoom feature, the images suffer a lot of degradation. - Armando Rozário - VGA

Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - Sir, I forgot to INFORM you that the 4 TREE images you requested me to POST was NOT done in FULL . . . I've only selected 2 as the other 2 looks like just the same . . .

Posted by VGA
Jojo,

Don't worry, you did a great job! I'll send you another photo tomorrow.

I have to look for my old Santa Claus which I had photographed 50 years ago!

Best regards

@vga - OK . . . will wait for the NEXT uploads . . .

@wap - Nice pics !

Posted by VGA
Jojo,

I'll try to post two comparative shots which were taken by my Nokia6265 at VGA (640x480). One photo was taken with flash, the other one without.

The results are almost the same, is there any difference?

Armando Rozário - [VGA]

Posted by VGA
Here is the one which was taken with flash

Armando [VGA]

Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - Sir, that's kinda WEIRD to be honest as I find the IMAGE taken withOUT the FLASH - sharper than the ONE used with

That's an INTELLECTUAL upload, as by using the mirror . . . you have shown us which image was taken with a FLASH and the one WITHOUT

I'm GLAD to see too that you can now MANAGE to Upload some pics here in this thread . . . CONGRATULTAIONS - Sir !

Posted by VGA
Jojo,

Thanks for your comments, I also took note that there was almost no difference between the two images.

A friend of mine helped me upload the photos to the forum, I'll try to do it by myself in the future.

I have been posting 'VGA' images in the PHONE PHOTOS section, but the photos were taken with my old camcorder, my Nokia 6265 photos are still encountering a strange barrier....they are not recognized as photos which were taken by a phone camera!

Best regards

Armando - Cabo Frio - December 14, 2006

P.S. I'll reproduce the 1956 Sata Claus cover photo tomorrow.

Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - Sir, you might just find interest browsing some PICS taken with our co-member's K700 camfones here:

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=61289

The K700 is ONE of the BEST - VGA camfones around in 2004 ( . . . up till now).

heres a pis at ust

Posted by *Jojo*
@andre - Nice ! Looks like that was taken at University of Santo Tomas (Manila), I went there too in college. Looks like it was taken at night time ? What fone did you use back there pal?

Welcome to Esato too !

This 51 year old magazine cover was photographed by my Nokia6265 phone camera. I chose two settings, one at the VGA (640x480) and the other at 1600x1200. You may notice that the difference of the quality of the images are not very apparent! Both are good! As a young photographer of the Brazilian weekly magazine 'Manchete' I was assigned to register a scene for the publication's Christmas issue. A week before the deadline I visited a big department store in Rio 'Mesbla'. When I entered the building I noticed a group of children waiting in line....to ask Santa Claus for a Christmas present. When a small Brazilian girl cupped her hands to whisper, asking for a secret present for Christmas, I clicked the shutter of my Rolleiflex and captured the scene for the cover of the magazine I was working for (51 years ago!). The date which was published on the cover: 24th. of December 1955 . I had this old magazine amongst the newspapers and photos of my archives, so I decided to register it with a digital camera and post it at www.esato.com and show a moment which was registered on film 51 years ago.

Taken with my N73-ME

Posted by VGA
pimp123,

a good, sharp image. The N73 is a very good Camera Phone, equipped with a Carl Zeiss lens.

Is is a 2MP or 3MP Phone Camera?

You may examine some of my close-ups which were taken at VGA (640x480).....most of them are close-ups

http://www.esato.com/phonephotos/index.php?uid=102523

Why not upload some of your photos at the "Phone Photos" section?

Armando Rozário - Cabo Frio, Brazil - December 22, 2006

Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - The Nokia N73 is a 3 MP camfone . . . one of K800's counter-part in Nokia - (N80 etc. . . .).

The ME if I am not mistaken I guess means: (M)usic (E)dition

Posted by pimp123
@VGA, yes it is a 3mp camera, CZ and stuff, quite happy with it, save for the night shots, but even that is managable if you resize it

@Jojo yes, ME meaning Music Edition, here is a snap of my mobile

taken with tytn, using CoolCamera software, finally found a work-around for the disappointingly problematic built in camera app.

@pimp - Nice ! Almost similar with that of the BLACK - Nokia 6233 too

@matt - Nice LEAVES and doggy ! Sharp images !

@residing - Yup, I never thought that this TyTn camfone can capture SHARP images . . .

Posted by matt69
IMO most of the pics taken with the built-in camera app are pretty poor, even after changing the daft default settings.
now it seems to take good pics in most conditions.

Posted by *Jojo*
@vga - With the last image I posted for you . . . Santa's Image . . . I find ithe one taken in VGA much sharper compared to the one in 2 MP resolution . . . I based my findings on both Santas posted.

Posted by VGA
Jojo,

It is indeed very strange, I have also noticed it. Perhaps a smaller image gives the impression that it is sharper.

I hope you enjoyed your Christmas holidays, ours were spent with the family at home.

I'll send you a private message tomorrow and request for one small 'upload' before the 31st. of December 2006.

Best regards.

Jojo, axxxr and friends,

A Peaceful New Year for 2007!

I am enclosing a 'self-portrait' of my phone camera.

I pointed my Nokia at the surface of my wife's portable 2x concave mirror, framed the image of the phone camera in the foreground and snapped the shutter.

My camera was set at 1600x1200 and the flash mode was 'on'. Besides taking good VGA shots my phone camera also produces some good 1.9MP photos, here is an example. If I had had the new N series I might have produced a sharper image with the Tessar lens, but I am quite satisfied with the result I had obtained. Please check:

Jojo & axxxr,

I forgot to show you both the first image I registered on Christmas Day last week. Here it is, shot at VGA (640x480)

http://upload5.postimage.org/18375/photo_hosting.html

You may notice these details on the open page:

View image: Rozario A096.jpg - Windows Internet Explorer

The image was uploaded automatically from the Nokia PC Suite file to PostImage.org.....my CameraPhone photo was easily recognized as an image which was originally 'captured' by my Nokia6265 (image A096.jpg)

@miss uk - I made a SECOND look at the latest pics you've UPLOADE in this page (bathroom and teddy bear) . . . I think that 's a NICE camfone for a 2 MP one Did you use a flash on those? Or just plain - Night Mode settings? I am not sure if a K750 can capture a SHARP snap like those - INDOORS and YES, looks like it's a BIT better than the D600.

Please UPLOAD some OUTDOOR pics next time . . . so we can compare it with some 2 MP camfones too . . .

Hi Jojo,
