Try doing a search on here for a program called, send file. You should be able to get the web address from that to download theProgram.

Posted by ESTOR
I think you have to disable OBEX inside fMA

Posted by ingenus
Hi!

This would be the answer for anybody having problems with T230 and DCU-11.

Since I'm more of a self-lerner, I tested almost anything that could be related to that connection.

So, to get this thing working, first should be: Get the Float's Mobile Agent (http://fma.sourceforge.net)(got version 1.0.0.35)
Second: Go into the FMA's Options.
Set baud rate to 9.600, RTS and DTR to Enabled
Then set Obex Enabled, IRMcSync Disabled, check Do not retrieve files-folders). Don not forget to set the same COM port as Windows assigned to you cable (this coud be seen in hardware panel).

That should be it.

If FMA still says that the Obex is busy, restart the phone, reconnect to the cable, or in worst case restart the computer.

Then simply use upload and when FMA sais "Check the phone for instructions" then check the phone (This means, take a look on a phone's screen ). Don't do it the way I did...i thought that something is wrong and I uninstalled-reinstalled everything.

Pictures, (GIF, JPG, WBMP), ringtones (MIDI,AMR), themes (THM) and games (MPN) can be uploaded to phone.

Pictures size is 101*80, the best program to use is Irfan View (has many image manipulation functions, resize, crop etc.) You just have to save pics in GIF format.

In comparison, pics manipulated in IV (GIF)take about 10-15 kb's, pictures that are uploaded from SE Image Creator take from 20-25 kb's (JPG). Almost no difference could be seen, maybe the ony noticable is, that GIF's are a bit brighter.

Best program for themes is Theme Creator Pro (http://tcpro.lasyk.net/).

Nothing can be downloaded from T230 coz it doesn't support OBEX (Obex not implemented) and this can't be resolved any way.
You have to send your pics (taken with Communicam Camera or any other way) to your email or via MMS, thats it.
Also, !NO! Outlook synchronization is possible

T230 can be used as a modem, you just have to use any other modem driver (I use driver for T200, which is IMHO the best one).
Link for the driver: http://www.sonyericsson.com/d[....]s/SET200PCModem_v1_25_7_12.zip

Thats it.

Well, I'm going to write a tutorial regarding SE T230 and computer connection since I think there will still be many questions.

Hi Ingenus,

please advise on connecting T230 as modem via T200 driver. I have those drivers, PC found the modem and managed to connect it as T68 cable modem as well. When i try to connect, i am receiving same reply - "hardware failure".

Tnx a lot,

Vlada

Posted by ingenus
Sorry for being late...long time offline...no money on phone

Uninstall all modem drivers.

Well, first step is properly installed cable drivers.

Then download this t200 modem driver: http://www.sonyericsson.com/d[....]s/SET200PCModem_v1_25_7_12.zip

Unpack them etc...

Go to add new hardware panel (in Control Panel), select add device, then i have disk, point to a folder where you have your drivers, voila.
Notice that the right com port (usually Com4, but it all depends on your computer) and baud rate must be selected (baud rade in modem setup can be up to 115000kb/s). that should be it.

If it's not working, write again, i'll try to do my best!

Posted by ESTOR
note that certain SE phones will only work with a cable at 9600kb/s

Posted by ingenus
True.

Same with my T230...cable must be set at 9600, but modem can be up to 115000

Hi,

I'm trying to get my T200 rolling.

Using the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up wizard pops up a funky little animation saying:

"Retrieving GPRS config from mobile device"...

then it pops up a OK box:

"Because of an internal error in the application at least one parameter in the request is invalid".

As far as I understand if this wizard succeeds I can use my mobile phone to browse the web on my PC? Does this require special services or settings on my phone?

Thanks

Posted by walker33
This is just miscellaneous, but you can find some useful software for these purposes at www.clubsonyericsson.comHope this helps you :-)

Posted by iman
I've googled around and that seems like _the_ site for ericsson software (appart form the fact that most of it just points to www.sonyericsson.com).

but "useful" is pushing it:)

It all seems like cool software, if only i could get it to work.

I'm a sadist for this stuff though. I'll let you guys know if I get anything useful out of this crappy handset

Slovenia Prices here differ from town to town. Got badluck living in outskirts

In comparison, in one shop I found MCA30 for 80, in another for 140 euro...funny, isn't it

1. You can use your phone for internet
2. no special services needed
-install cable drivers
-install modem drivers (link upwards)
-in dial-up number setup put *98*1# (where 1 stands for CID number)
username and password you use to access GPRS

You should now be conected to the internet

Hello,

Please, I need to know one thing before buying the serial data cable for my T-230 phone.

Is it possible to send SMS messages from a PC ?

I hate to type messages in this phone! It's unbearably slow! It would be wonderful to be able to type in my PC.

Thanks a lot.
Kind regards.

No you can't.

Tried using the T29 cable to connect my friend's T230 to pc but it didn't work? any ideas on how to solve this problem since the USB cable (DC-11) is not available here.

Posted by ESTOR
I know that the T28 cable definitely doesn't work. Never heard of the T29 cable. However cables labelled as for T39 or newer will work.

Posted by ingenus
Sure it's possible to send sms from pc, just use FMA.

Posted by brym!
@ ESTOR,
Well I tried using a friend's DSS-25 sync station that came with her P900 yet it didn't connect; I downloaded the driver from SE site and after installation my PC's device manager indicated that it is working well but the phone monitor did not recognise T230. The SE site listed T230 as one the compartible phones that works with DSS-25. I thereafter tried using Christersson's send file but it says: phone not connected. PLS HELP!!!!

Posted by ESTOR
I suggest you use float's mobile agent instead. much less headache.

To use SENDFILE or any SE software, you have to install and properly configure Mobile Phone Monitor (control panel -> Phone Monitor Options) and "enable" the COM port that corresponds to your cable/sync station.

@ Estor,
Still did not connect even with FMA. I selected serial connection;the port where DSS-25 is connected to, yet no connection with phone. PLS HELP!!

Posted by ESTOR
The COM port speed for the cable must be set at 9600 for T230. If you are using SE software, you can do that by Device Manager -> Ports -> COMx -> Port Settings -> Bits per second

If you are using FMA, you can also set it within the program.

just lettin you all know, ive been a way for a while, but ive worked a few things out, and found a trick none of you have mentioned before.

ok, for those having problems, here is the quick way.

use fma, its easy to use, and has lots of tricks.
it seems no one has been able to use all the functions yet, but ive worked a way to use them all, including making phone calls, downloading and uploadin, sending sms, the lot.

ok, baud rate MUST be 9600, make sure none of the comm ports on your pc are being used by anything else,( so it can detect you cable connection easier, can turn them on later) and that fmais turned to comm 4. make sure the rts and dtr are on.

next, turn the irmcsync of(disable), otherwise it wont connect ( found this with all phones ive tried)

than go to connect ( i dont thinki missed anything)

ok, it should connect ok, but at this point you are limited to what you can do, no sms, no calls, and no uploads/downloads ( ive found)

here is that part no one has thought of, once it is connected, turn the irmcsync BACK ON...... this now allows everything to be used, sendin sms, making phone calls, downloadind AND uploading, the lot.

hope this has helped, letme know if it does

cheers

ghost

Everything works if irmcSync is turned off (except for downloading)...did you actually download any picture from your T230?

Posted by ESTOR
I concur. IrmcSync remains off and I can do everything on the phone.

In fact, the only thing that I had to change in FMA after installation is the speed being adjusted to 9600. Everything else I never touched.

@ Estor,
Thanks man I followed your last suggestions and successfully connected to FMA. I was thereafter able to upload(according to FMA) images, ringtones etc to the phone. Thanks Again!

Wow!
I just used these tips to connect via my T230 via USB-cable.
After an hour of sweating I got it to work thanks to this forum!

Thank YOU!

To ghost&roser

But you can do everything using setting me and estor wrote down...you just retyped our text
Btw, you still cannot download pictures FROM your T230, becouse that function is not even integrated...believe me, I tried everything

You cannot upload or retrieve anything FROM the T230. The phone does not support it.

Posted by punkt
well I ordered a serialcable (COM port, right?) and when ordering i saw it supported model T230. i ordered it from here:
http://www.kauplus.ee/?t=137
So today i got the cable and in the back was: "For T28"
And its not working. I tried everything mentioned here until i saw a post saying that cables marked as for T28 dont work on T230. then I was a bit amazed. the website showed it should work on T230, but NO! So there is no chance getting it work on my T230?
please respond ASAP.
thnx

Posted by ESTOR
Well, the T28 cable works for T230 for unlocking, so the seller wasn't totally lying.

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=17145#post221960

You can disconnect the test pin and re-arrange the 2 voltage pins to make it into a data cable.

well its a bit too complicated for me. no time to mess around with it. i hope i can return it to the seller somehow. but do all the USB sony ericsson datacables work on t230? i think im about to order a new one and here it is:
http://www.kauplus.ee/?t=411
so will this one work definitely?
