Good choice Bono - a nice easy theme with plenty of scope.

Posted by Bonovox
Thanks. I love this type of theme. Just remember a stable surface to put your phone on.

I am already on a hunt of tri-pod. Very nice theme mate.

Posted by Bonovox
Well you can hold it steady in a wall or something too

Posted by Marly
Nice theme!

Another tip: use the self-timer, if available! Many people move the phone slightly when clicking the shutter button.

edit: As the December-thread is closed: congrats on the win!

Nice theme Bono
I'm gonna spend some nights in the dark now.

Posted by reeflotz
Great theme! Time to change signature for this month's theme

Posted by Bonovox
Hans is gonna be prowling the dark streets

Posted by pmerryman
Great theme, and congrats on the win.

Posted by Bonovox
Cheers!! My original choice was URBAN MACRO but I think that's actually like miniture mode which is not possible on phones. I think it's miniture mode anyway or photos of old rusty places in towns & cities. I long for the day phones can do 30 sec exposures or more!!

Exellent theme

I am gonna go out after work around the city(as it gets dark here early still) & get snapping with my N8!!

Congrats on winning! Nice theme too!

Another couple of tips: switch to night landscape scene, turn the self-timer to 2 seconds and put it on a flat surface (in case your phone can stand still on its side). Also the best night pics are taken at twilight when there's still some light in the sky

Posted by Bonovox
Yes io_bg you have taken some cracking good night shots or evening sunsets

Posted by hihihans
If we all hurry we could make some nice shots of the Christmas lights on peoples houses

Posted by Bonovox
Yes,well tomorrow I shall be around the city when it's dark in early evening. Victoria Square is all nicely lit up at night!!

Posted by emporium
no no, you two won't get out so easy, houses and squares are not landscape

Posted by Bonovox
What do you class as a night landscape then?? It can be of many things like from wide mountain scapes and hills to city scapes

Posted by idumbakumar
hi bono seems u r using N8?? good... i got an N8 for 300$ and i like it very much. im on belle now . im surely participating this month.

Posted by Bonovox
How have you got Belle its not out for n8 yet is it??

Posted by Marly
Belle isn't officially out here, must be a beta, Delight maybe?
Or is the official version earlier available in India?

@emporium I changed the first 2 example photos in my thread to more reflect the theme. But also I see a night landscape as anything from a scenic shot by night or a city scape or buildings by night. I know maybe not houses I know that. A night landscape does not have to be rolling hills or a moon over the sea

@bonovox
I dont know about availability of belle in India but right now idumbakumar is in USA. He bought N8 there only, so he has upgraded to belle in USA.

I know one place in my city where i can capture such stunning pic of night landscape. I night go there in a day or two.

Cingrats Bono! Nice theme.

Posted by emporium
I was kidding , but new examples are better and more inspiring.

Posted by pohuman
I like this theme.. I will join..

Happy new year to everyone. Congrats for the win Bono. I may have some shots for this month's theme

Posted by Bonovox
Cool, well I have seen some of your night shots in the city!!

Posted by biosx
Well, I meant i may have them already I've just returned from Istanbul and, luckily, i DID take some night shots, and even more so, they were on Jan 1st so they qualify. I would have been pretty upset if I'd taken them before new year's and not after.

I don't think I'll have any better shot for this month's theme so I'm putting it here quite early, maybe break the ice. Though I pondered between this and the other two night shots, with the Ayasofya and the one with the Blue Mosque, this one better fits the "landscape" theme.

Original

Cheers!

Very nice shot biosx. Welcome İstanbul in Türkiye. Ayasofya in Trabzon. I'm from Rize. Trabzon next to Rize. You have to come here. Plateaus, waterfalls, mountains.. Sorry for my terrible english..

yes buddies.. right now i'm in Livonia,
belle for N8 is unofficially leaked firmware (but its specific to N8)and its already customized by some users for tweaks.
its has lot of new UI features such as pull down status bar as in android and camera UI change etc.
so far everything works fine without bug. and the installation is pretty much easy.
if u want to move to belle there are lot of threads. pls let me know i'll guide u for the update to a stable one.

Biosx that's a good picture but it'd be better if you could take the full view of the bridge. That looks amazing while new year's celebrations.

Shoot a Landscape at Night

Posted by emporium
realy nice entry

Posted by Bonovox
I like that green lights on the tree or whatever it is.

Posted by biosx
Thanks everyone. Istanbul was a lovely sight, and definitely worth the trip. Everyone from Turkey must be so proud.

@pohuman: might just visit, since the countries are not that far away. Your English is more than fine btw.
@ok1907: I was rather limited by the location granted the entire bridge would have looked better, but the only place I could get a shot of the entire bridge had a metallic wire fence and that showed up in my picture... It was a bit too cold to wonder off looking for better angles on that hill.
@Bonovox: yep, it was a tree lit up by the green spotlights behind it. Made it look "out-of-this-world-ish"

Great idea of monthly competition. If not Bonovox's priv I wouldn't know about it. It was nice to see my pirate ship as example of movie shot by emporium.

Keep shoting guys and girls or rather girls and guys.

Good luck.

Posted by hihihans
Take a shot at night and join in.
For me, the weather is so bad that I have to wait to capture a scape.

I will

Yes indeed I was in a rush when I took that picture and I couldn't really pay attention. Combining my poor ability to take picture and the poor quality of iphone camera resulted in a blurry photo

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah it's still fine though nice colours

These first few months of 2012 are gonna be busy for me!.... I hope I can find some time to shoot, this is a great theme!

Lets hope you find something colourful & night landscape around Orlando
