Damn, they're still using the same old screenshots from their Arc review, when all the Xperia phones were still using Android 2.3.2. Same goes to their Neo review.

Posted by Bonovox
I think that's cos the interface is the same

no worries, it means volume

Since you also own an xperia x10 mini pro, how is the ray compared to its audio output?

I am an owner of the new mini and I am quite satisfied with the audio quality/output I am hoping it's at the very least the same as that.

Hey dude, whats weather widget you got on the ray?

cheers,

phil

Posted by jplacson
everyone seems to like my weather widget...

I'm using Fancy Widgets it was something I used on my X10 Mini Pro but it looks sooooo much better on the ray... the detail on the weather icons is so nice!

I am also from the Philippines and here the only available color that I have seen so far is black and gold. I hope the other colors will be released here too.

2nd part of my ray review is up... for those that don't want to read the review, in a nutshell, decent quality, weak volume. Unless you have the LiveSound in your country kit, ditch the included headset.

Xperia ray Review Part 2 - Audio review

hhhhmmm. now im worried. is it bass-y enough?

Posted by jplacson
bronxdude, it is bassy enough, just not loud enough. A more efficient pair may help, but my K324 would represent a majority of headsets out there in terms of efficiency. And I can run the ray at max volume and it's 'just enough'.

im actually using soundmagic PL-11.

max volume and its just enough? do you think a software tweak can do the trick?

Posted by Bonovox
Maybe a better music player download from Market which will have an EQ??

Posted by jplacson
If the hardware is capable, then a SW tweak could unlock it, but I wouldn't want a SW tweak to boost the volume... that would just introduce a lot of distortion. The EQ presets on the ray are fine, much better than the ones found on the iPhone4 and iPod Touch... but again, I hate using EQs except when playing through the external speaker. On headsets, SW EQ just messes up the audio quality too much.

Posted by Bonovox
Music normally sounds more natural in flat mode i guess its just volume you want. Then just better headphone will do for now

@Jp, seems like Mini Pro has the image detail on your blog

I am having problems playing Fruit Ninja (Free edition) using the Xperia Ray. The touch screen becomes unresponsive. Anyone else has experienced this?

Yes! Also a bad video quality. The rest, is perfect.

How on earth Xperia X10's battery could last more than Xperia Ray's

Posted by jplacson
Depends what services they had on I guess...

I leave wifi, 3g data, gps, and bluetooth all on and I get 12 hours on my ray.

Here's my review of the Xperia ray's camera

MOst excellent reviews mr. Tech Gospel !

Hey has anyone here got the update to 2.3.4 yet??

Posted by jplacson
Thanks roopi!

**Edit on my blog review, I failed to mention that the photos posted are cropped and zoomed shots to show detail and flaws in the photos. I added a link on my original blog post to the original uncropped shots for those that want to examine them in more detail**

Hey has anyone here got the update to 2.3.4 yet??

I got 2.3.4 a week ago.

Strange thing with BT. When I finish the call and press the buttom at the BT there is no indication that the call is ended, no blip in the headphones or anything in the display. Must check the phone everytime to see that the call is closed.
I donīt know if it was like this before the update, I updated the phone as soon I get it!

Is the Xperia Ray camera better then the iPhone 4? Is it between the 4 and the 4S?

Did you get 2.3.4 through th se update? are you in uk? I got impatient and flashtool'd the generic nordic firmware. It works great but noticed have no sound on wisepilot and the internet bookmarks are all nordic (could be the nordic customization me thinks lol). Was curious to find out if the sound works in your wisepilot?? Havent tried the blutooth headset yet so cant comment on your findings... yet

It seems we had the same type of history with smartphones. P900, P1i, X10.
I had enough of these bulky and heavy phones.
I want something simple, efficient, capable, small, stylish which looks like RAY

What really bugs me the software advantages of the phone. New interface, timescape being a widget, bla bla, With recent updata I have them all on my X10 as well.

So only thing that I want is the form factor.

Which color do you recon?
Which looks like the color that the phone should be

It can be related to the encoding - the built-in player does not seem to handle MP3's encoded using variable bitrate (like many audio books).

On my Xmini pro I can play everything I had on my older SE phones (K750i,W800i,P1i,W902i,W995i) also with other players like Winamp. It looks strange to me that you can not listen to your player on your Ray.
Try to instal Winamp

Hey bronxdude, congrats! on the mp3 issue, I initially thought I had problems as well... it just takes a while for the file to be indexed.

I was converting (I prefer converting, it saves space, and guarantees performance instead of me bitching about why I can't play a 1080p MKV, I just convert and I save so much space) and transferring videos ... over and over because my ray would play it back... turns out, you just need to wait a bit for it to load from the SD card. I'm guessing the bundled card isn't quite a Class 10...

i think this is because of the variable bitrate.

Posted by jplacson
bronxdude, I have no problems playing high rate VBR mp3s with the default player.

Sony Ericsson Turkiye is going to release Xperia Ray on 13th of October.
There will be a party along with the launch and guess who is invited

There was a contest which people required to write opinions about how they should challenge to the fashion.
5 people have been choosen over 500+ contenders. I'm one of them.

Here what I have written: "Don't follow the flock, follow the style; own an Xpearia RAY and create awareness"

I love you

@bronxdude
Maybe I do not understand what you mean ... but on my playlist there are many numbers with different bitrates ...
from 96,128,160,192 to 320kbps
it plays them all.

How did you transfer the files? Do you think you could send me one file?

I want to see if it will play on my ray... just to isolate if it's the file or your phone. PM me your email so I can send you a Dropbox invite

Anyone who has upgraded from x10 to the ray. Is it a good one to change to. My 12 month old x10 has started to have some problems with its buttons so need to look at a replacement.
Its either going to be a Ray in gold or an Xperia Pro.

Posted by Bonovox
If you want large screen the Xperia Pro would be better than the Ray. The Ray's screen is rather small & narrow. The Pro is out now seen it on Clove website in stock
