For a second then I thought you posted the same link as me One thing I wanna know is why oh why does not put more internal memory in their handsets for storage??

Posted by jack00
simple answer
internal memory is expensive

Posted by io_bg
It seems that Ray's camera has fewer settings than Arc, Neo & the rest. What a shame

Posted by Bonovox
I think keeps missing a trick here. They finally make a handset made of metal(well some of it)but they skp on some features instead. They then build phones with all the features but make them with plastics This must be keeping costs of handsets down

From GsmArena

For what it's worth, the video camera turned out to have more settings available in the viewfinder - focus mode, metering, exposure, value and image stabilization are available for adjusting.

Sounds like an early SW issue to me. Why would the video recorder have more settings than the regular camera ?

Posted by Bonovox
I seen a You Tube video somewhere & the camera had same settings I am sure. I is not a finished product as yet so don't jump the gun

Posted by mr_lou
Hmmmmm..........

I'm not sure.

Don't assume logical things. That's my experience, several times now.

The ray camera has exactly the same settings as arc/neo - as long as you are in the normal capturing mode. In e.g. smile detection mode, there are less settings - I guess that whoever wrote that was in one of those modes

Me too! I`m waithing for Ray to feel it in hand because I want smaller phone. Initally I thought Neo is still a bit bigger than I want... but as I finally found this comparison may rethink my choice to Neo. I don`t know... how longer I can wait.

Ray may be a bit small for typing. Ah, we'll see.

Posted by Bonovox
Who put them dirty finger prints over that Mini?? Neo is just right size for texting as is the Arc. Though texting on a 3.3 inch screen is fine I have done so on smaller with ease & I have big hands

Posted by hihihans
So no problem for my slim fingers

Posted by Bonovox
Nope

Posted by hihihans

Any news about the included headset? It has Special music driver, so?

I used to type with Vivaz pretty fast and easy with both tumbs and its 3.2" screen, so Ray will be easier.
You just have to use landscape everytime you type.

The specs on the ray's page state both 12-key and on-screen qwerty... can anyone confirm if the ray has T9 or multi-tap 12-key numeric layout as well for text input? This is one of my fav methods on my X10 Mini Pro since it allows one-handed texting.

And would anyone know if the ray has the option for the 4-corner UI as well?

Posted by hihihans
That 4 corner UI would be cool

Posted by rikken
It`s the same as one the Arc and Neo. There is a preview over at GSMarena

Posted by jplacson
Thanks rikken, I've seen those... none of the online vids show the claimed "12-key" text input (like the one found on the Minis)

Does anyone have a photo or screenshot of the 12-keypad input on the ray?

*********
Ok, nevermind found one in Russian on YouTube

Just played with the ray in the local sony shop. Definately the right size to talk, but the screen is really nice. I found the keyboard too small though.

Salesman said it will be available second week of august.

Next is the ultra flat Xperia ray - or, as some would call it, the Xperia arc in mini format.

Some also called the Neo for a smaller version of the Arc, but it clearly wasn't. They were different according to what I read here and there + my own experience as well. The Neo got bashed for being slower. And I was personally very annoyed that the audio in video-recordings done by Neo was only about 60% as loud as those done by Arc.

So is Ray really a mini version of Arc? Does it really give the same high results as Arc?

It would be really great if someone could record a small video with both Arc and Ray at the same time and upload it somewhere for comparison.
