Strange they didn't specify what kind of Snapdragon it is ?

We only know it has 1GHz, but not which GPU ? Adreno 200 (old one) or Adreno 205 (like in the Arc and Play).
Any info ?

Posted by tranced
@513:

The Mini Pro: MSM8255

The Mini: QSD8255

@smclion102: I'm not very impressed with the quality of the videos.

Ok, MSM8255 for both.
Thanks, do you have a link with those specs specified ?

@513: they are detailed in their respective white papers.

Great, thanks a lot.

I am loving this Phone .. Should be another Best Seller with good price + Best marketing

Posted by tranced
They must be. Both are well equipped and their predecessors were welcomed very nicely.

Sweet phones really.

There is one thing that annoys me. The announcement. I like the X10minipro but wanted more in the terms of specs and this is exactly what I wanted. And being announced on my birthday was a little extra nice.

But considering how low scale the announcement was why didn't they postpone it to late July? So they can be like they'll be available in a week or two. Heck pit them on sale in the morning and announce them in the evening.

If this hadn't come I would've had an X10 within a couple weeks from now but now I'm going to wait 3-4 months for a phone.

Now can we get behind a petition to get a black and red or black and green mini pro?

Bro according to this official Features page it says that Xperia mini pro has Exmor R cam!!!!

Posted by Alihosny
but is there a 5MP exmor sensor the only two i heard of is 8.1 and 16.2 MP ones?

the exmor r is not mentioned in the mini official page though , are they different?

also SE didn't say a word on exmor r , would they pass such a big point of marketing?

Yes, i know that, but in white paper, it state that mini pro doesnt get the exmo r. That s why, i am confuse.
Futhermore, in official page, if you go to the spec tab, espc in camera section, there isnt exmor r. Very confuse.

Official page in Norway says Exmor R

I do wonder what is different between MSM8255 and QSD8255, size of SoC? 45nm vs 65nm

and about camera I think it 8mp one but limited resolution by software.

Posted by NightBlade
Anhyone notice how the colour of the background of the music player changes depending on the labum art? Neat.

Posted by jplacson
I just hope we can now change the background photo throughout the menu and not get stuck with that sickening blue background again.... Its cool when the phone is new but after a while it gets annoying

no processor QSD8255 Link text...

I was looking for the exmor info in the white papers and there's no information about it. Also, the PR doesn't mention it either.

So my answer was based in that.

Sorry for the misinformation then

Posted by serge327
how about the expected price for this new mini series do u all think?

Posted by tranced
I said before it'd be in the £200 range.

Yeah, that's really cool indeed. Is it the same with Arc and Neo though?
Also... does anyone have sample pics of the camera (rog or anyone else )?

Thanks for the Techradar link, they did a nice hands on preview as always. It's going to be a wait but worth it

When are these planned to be released??

Finally. The screen is the main reason why I skipped the X10 minis. Having held one in my hand, its just too small, even if I'm used to such a screen. My thumb easily blocks 80% of the screen if going for one of the corners, and because of the bigger real estate the qwerty is more comfortable.

Looks interesting. I hope video recordings are saved as mp4. Or at least just not 3gp.

According to white papers, it records in both mp4 and 3gp..

Regarding the ExmorR issue, while the features page does indeed state it as a feature, the specs page makes not mention of it. Weird!

Guess we'll have to wait for official word on this. Either way, very lazy of Sony.

Posted by tranced
The X10 Mini Pro records in 3gp.

These are wonderful refreshes for the mini line.

Almost makes me wanna come out of high end and kick it midrange for a second...beautiful and I love the redone UI and facebook integration. Good to see the specs have been beefed up and from videos seem very fluid.

Slashgear had hand-son with both devices:

I'm in love with the black mini pro My w995 is having a harder and harder time coping with webpages though the Snaptu client (recommended for feature phones) lets me keep up with Twitter ,Facebook and RSS feeds. Time to upgrade.

Posted by Alihosny
is it me only or does anyone else see that the mini's screen has a more pop out effect to it more than the mini pro, like it's getting out of the phone very apparent in the white version or it's just an illusion.

Posted by Bonovox
Might be right on the surface like the Arc with no air gap in-between the display & glass

Posted by arcmhyke
According to SE main Site, Xperia mini pro there's a Exmor R but in Xperia mini there's no Exmor R?

these new models are really confusing, it's either they forgot to include it or the info is still incomplete

and i found out that, only these new mini's have an xLOUD Experience in their music department, Neo/Arc/Pro don't have this feature

I posted this in the 2011 portfolio thread, but I'll add it here as well.

There seems to be some discrepancies throughout the web site regarding radio frequencies. AT&T UMTS uses 850 in North America, and not 800. The Sony Ericsson Press Release shows a North American model with 850: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/press/pressreleases/pressreleasedetails/sonyericssonunveilsnextgenerationminisfinal-20110505. But I'm slightly confused as the Global site does not show availability for either the Mini or Mini Pro in the United States: http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/corporate/products/phoneportfolio And also shows the UMTS radio frequency of 800.

@Eva @tranced
Same for me. With or without Exmor, I don't care.

Posted by rikken
I am sure these babies will take some great pictures just like the x10 mini/pro do

Posted by Bonovox
The bigger screen is the new welcome addition

Posted by rikken
Agree. Adds more potential to the phone
