I'm looking forward to hearing any announcement for XPERIA Arc in America version (LT15a) as soon as possible due to differentiate 3G band in my country. Only my hope it will not late as X10 did last year

I thought arc had american 3G bands already?

Clove still cheapest at £408.

Had an email from Clove:

We still anticipate its arrival on the week commencing the 28th March, but it could be delayed due to the Japanese crisis.

Confirmed info has yet to filter through.

Yeah I am using Clove for Neo pre order but it is same price on website. I may check again to see which has the cheapest delivery option.

Xperia Mini vs Xperia X10 vs Xperia Arc Qualcomm Adreno Neocore benchmark results.

YouTube

Neocore results
X10: 21.4 fps
Arc: 57.8 fps
Mini: 37.1 fps

The Arc is faster than the X10, but it does not feel three times faster. So these numbers are lying.

I also run the Quadrant benchmark and got similar results there:
Xperia Arc: 1612
Xperia X10: 511

Quadrant results

I just ran the Quadrant benchmark on my HTC Desire HD which has the same processor as the Arc and heres the result

Yes my ROM is stock apart from rooting to get all the goody applications for it. Seeing as Gingerbread is coming out in spring and I like sense I haven't felt a need to put a custom ROM on but yes they are all reporting of performance increases with custom ones including that you can overclock the CPU to 1.22Ghz but this ROM I'm using is the stock.

Even though, its not a completely stock vs stock benchmark.

Quadrant itself is a piss poor benchmark though, you can even mark a X10 score over 3000.

Posted by Toney_Ericsson
The X10 is piss poor slow compared to this. My ROM is stock with only security turned off for rooted only apps and the ROM itself is completely stock.

Posted by AndyD777
This just proves my point!

Are there any benchmarking apps that do tell the truth? Quadrant is the only one I have seen about and obviously isn't accurate.

Posted by AndyD777
Linpack I believe is one of the better ones along with Neocore, I have seen some silly scores in Quadrant so I just dont trust it personally.

Didn't know there was one in the UK. Been to a Best Buy in the states they sell everything in them.

Posted by Gok
darn... and I thought best buy here in the states have it. Got my hopes up! I hope the best buy over there is better than the ones here...

Posted by northmonkey
I hope the call volume and battery life are much better on the Arc.

Posted by Bonovox
Well,it should be cos they all have HD voice capability the new Xperia range

Posted by northmonkey
I found that battery life on the X10 shocking, I struggled to get it to last more than 8-10 hours a lot of the time.

After uninstalling some applications like moxier and facerecognition it lasts almost two days.
should have unistalled them in some point with the updates

Posted by rickster2kuk
I find the X10's battery pretty good. I can easily get 2 - 3 days out of it with moderate use.

Does anyone know where you can buy the Misty silver (sim free), and will it be released at the same time as the Midnight Blue?

Carphone Warehouse but they said it will be April for that one, Can't see it coming out at the same time as the Midnight Blue one.

Well speaking of different colours when I pre ordered my Neo on SE website it never gave me any option to choose colour. So I guess this applies to Arc too. The other colours will follow

Posted by Ricke77
I preordered a blue arc yesterday. They told me it would take almost 2 weeks before I get it. Cant hardly wait!
So in two weeks I have a black SE Satio for sale. You can get it for the price of a meal!

Posted by Bonovox
When I ordered my Neo from website it said no money will be taken until product reaches our shipment centre. But the money is already pending from my account so they have a hold on it. Must be on it's way to their warehouse soon then ready for April 1st I think it is. But it also said 4 days after dispatch for delivery the suspense is killing me. Sorry I mention my Neo in Arc thread @laffen we shall be requesting new Avatars soon

Don't know what to say... But i am disappointed in SE (lol again?). That Exmor R is just a HUUUUUUGE gimmick, nothing more. I was only looking at the Arc because i thought it will have a better camera than the rest (Neo and Pro). But seems like it will be the exact same performance on all (i doubt the Pro will be worse than this lol, that would be G900 quality). I admit, the design is extraordinary, the hardware looks good, but sony lost the camera battle a long time ago. I know it wasnt promised as a cameraphone, but it could have been better (if the camera would have been tuned up more).
Sum it up: excellent design, good OS, bad* camera or camera software (don't know exactly which one).

* where bad means worse than Satio, N8, C905 and others. Pity because it has been a while since those phones where launched.

To me daylight photos look about the same as x10 so good quality. But night photos look ok ish. One uploaded by Mizzle in photos section was dreadful(sorry mizzle). I am getting Neo already ordered but I have not got it just cos of camera. A good lowlight test will be a street full of lights at night

Telenor Sweden. It used to be Vodafone...

So as we can see, Arc's camera isn't a disaster, but Exmor-R is worth nothing. Maybe it's not a bad sensor itself, but v. cheap optics and/or terrible "Sony style" noise reduction?

Such things make me think about optimus 2x...

you cant really compare the Arc with any of the C-series phones (the focus is not the camera on the arc as it was on the cybershot phones, beein superior with xeion flash and other camera goodies)

Posted by Bonovox
I have looked at the videos of Arc & Neo both have speedy focus

hm. .
expansys.se/sony-ericsson-xperia-x12-arc-android-smartphone-misty-silver-208067/

Posted by norbi_nw
@SKIBBE

But C series are dead already. SE dropped it for the Xperia line. So all that was C series can go into Xperia. Maybe they will add more contrast to the pictures and video and remove that white fog that is always present in the latest SE phones.
We arent in 2008 anymore, i know they can get much more out from the camera driver... I know it wasnt promised to be a camera hit phone, but it's 2011, and technology has evolved alot. And people ARE EXPECTING something when you shout out loud 100x that it will use Exmor R sensor

Well you would expect it to be speedy to be honest.

Looks like those few of us in Canada will have Both the Arc and the Play.

https://www.rogers.com/Xperia

That testing youtube video doesn't prove much ... load several large apps and switch to the menu again ... if it remains that fast I'll be super impressed.

Common guys ... have faith ... put out a seriously good product. Give them time for an update or two in the firmware ... I'll bet the video quality and camera quality improve significantly.

Remember the days of less than VGA video recording on older QuickShare phones?! ugggh that was seriously painful. then again stuck on vga for years while the competition rose to the challenge? Now SE is with the big dogs.

i cannot WAIT for liquid lens camera with true optical zoom without increasing slim form factor thickness.

Posted by SKIBBE
@norbi_nw

Yes, we can only hope they will focus more on the acctual camera than gimics to sell it to the masses.
like i said before, the "speed" is what impresses me the most compared to the slow x10.

Definately not a C but Satio wasn't C either and had nice camera, + why u put an exmor trademark to something that doesnt do its job well...? u ruin your brand...
