Well I have some info. which is nice and very good...

Xperia Arc may have USB OTG, if not in the final sw release, it may be on later a sw update... and AFAIK will soon updates all of it new Xperia range to 2.4... so I just hope USB OTG will be there too

I don't know any functionality that the USB OTG will get, but it may give you the ability to connect a regular USB keyboard, or use a USB mass storage.. or it might give you both of these... lets hope will give us something early...

I'm imagining to connect the phone to a TV using HDMI and hooking a keyboard to it to do more advanced browsing

of course we will need an Male-microUSB to female-USB adapter to make things work which is not yet announced by

Can I ask how genuine that info is? Not that I'm questioning your reliability or anything. I myself would love to have USB OTG support in my next phone and would be very happy if Arc had this option(then I wouldn't even consider buying GS II). It just seems unlikely that SE would be silent about this feature(clear advantage over direct competitors), although samsung was quiet about HD output through MHL port on Galaxy S II so everything is possible.

I know its a little early, but will there be screen protectors available for the Arc once its released?

Also, do you think there will be a case/pouch with a "pull up strap" for the Arc?? Wouldn't mind having one of those 'Case Mates' like I have for my Desire, but with the Arc's unique design, I am not sure if they will do one for the Arc.

the xperia arc's video capture is looking very good..

At least in Sweden, a screen protector and a case/pouch will be provided in the box (not sure how they looks like), along with a 16 GB card, a wired headset, charger and a HDMI cable.

Really not sure why every other country are getting only an 8GB card with handsets that goes for many manufacturers when really in comparison your paying the price for a 16GB iPhone equivalent Android handset.

Obviously cheaper for manufacturers just to bundle an 8GB card when really it should be a 16GB class 2 at least, especially these days.

Am I correct in saying the Arc has auto text reflow??

So has anyone decided on defiantly buying the Arc??

Posted by Xajel
@dibdin,
I'm waiting till I see it in real, then I'll decide between Arc and Neo. depending on size & price... but my heart is with Arc
I hope it is not that big so I can use it normally with ease using one hand. and not that much expensive, if not then I'll go with Neo

Yes, that has crossed my mind as well. Hopefully I would be able to perform most functions just using one hand, though I think I would struggle bringing down the notification bar with just one hand.

Not a bad Phones4U review here showing the hdmi function.

I have decided to go for the Arc when it comes out. I'm impressed by the camera and video capabilities of the phone and I know I'm going to fall in love with the phone when it's in my hands.

I'm almost positive there wont be a hdmi cable and other goodies that come with phone from other providers, as what happened when I purchased the X10.

Posted by SKIBBE
i bought a lether jacket this weak... thus not having aford buying the ARC, was a hard choice but the upgrade from x10 is not that much. but if i had the money i would buy the arc right away!

Posted by Fishtank
Last I read the arc will get USB-OTG
Was in the whitepaper afaik

Underrated function that atleast I will use ALOT

Nope nothing in white-paper

AFAIK it will not be in the final software, but may-be in upcoming update, could be the first one, or last one... I just hope not the last, and I hope they don't drop it !!

The Arc is described as having a "clear black panel", in what way is this supposed to improve the screen if at all??

Posted by Fishtank
No air gap between digitizer and screen

More vibrant colours in short

Posted by dibdin
Thanks fishtank.

Posted by >500
and, although it has the 'Reality Display', the Neo/Pro do not have this 'clear black' (afaik)....

That's good to know.

Another thing, does the Arc have an LED notification light??

Posted by Ravager
Yes, on the side of the top right corner and i thought clear black panel meant that you cant see the lcd panel when the screen is switched off unlike the x10 witch has a black/white border around the screen

Should the Arc's screen fare better in direct sunlight than say an AMOLED screen??

Posted by Xajel
^^^

AFAIK, yes as Arc has LCD which is better than (s)AMOLED in sunlight

Posted by dibdin
The misty silver one does look pretty cool.

Misty Silver's back did not look like plastic glossy unlike one on Midnight Blue.
Although, I preferred the Midnight Blue but it glossy may change my mind and go for Silver one instead

Posted by dibdin
I'm still going for the midnight blue.

Has anyone noticed on some videos of the Arc how deep the blacks are on screen??

Just watch this video and compare the blacks of Arc and Galaxy S

I for one am really excited to get the Arc...coming from X10, i just really want 2.3 on my phone with the ability to move apps to SD cos my X10 right now is full. Don't really want to mod it too much either but have to admit after rooting and getting rid of the bloatware that came with the phone is a great thing. Hopefully Arc will be rooted soon after release as well. Took the X10 a while to get root access.

The silver Arc is for me, was thinking about the black one but don't like the glossy back cover.

Not sure if this was posted before, sorry if it has, but here's a really good preview of the phone from tracyandmatt.co.uk

Seriously, You about to get nothing when compare retail unit with prototype one.

And hell yeah! I totally hate of any smudges on my phone it nasty especially easily cause of glossy plastic.

Is it likely Misty Silver will relased a few weeks after Midnight Blue??

Majority of sites i have gone on just advertise Midnight Blue.

Posted by Xajel
^^^ AFAIK Midnight is the main color & production will be higher than Misty Silver...

I haven't seen the Misty Silver for sale anywhere in the UK. I get the feeling it won't be available here which would be a shame.

I'm sure one operator has the exclusive, or may be its Carphonewarehouse.

Is it the same battery for the Arc as with the X10??

Thanks

Posted by Xajel
No, the new one is shorter and wider.. its the same one used for at least Arc, Neo and Pro... I don't remember about Play

Mentioning the battery, It's possible - by design - for a Chinese company to make bigger capacity battery by making it thicker, the only problem with this is they must design a new back cover that does not have an arc design... so basically making the phone another brick

Thanks for your prompt reply.

How long after the Arc is released do you think it will take till you can buy a spare battery ??

Posted by Xajel
I donno, but I think it depends on the dealer, some dealers order accessories with any new phones specially when there's new standard ( battery size, new charger plug like when had FastPort for the first time, and when they had USB charging too )

Pocket-lint: Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc landing 21 March

SE Indonesia will have the launch event on 11 March 2011 to introduce the Xperia Arc.
Participants will have the opportunity to play with Anzu on that event.
I'm invited.

Posted by goldenface
21st March! That's great news! Less than two weeks.

Posted by HxH
Not even close here, In Thailand latest report I have heard few days ago. It said that the Arc will somewhat available between April 12-17.

Only pre-order now and first 500 applied will get MBS-200 as bonus compliment.

Don't count me in for first in line to buy due to nightmare experienced with Satio could only make me wait for several months.
