I have a 3g and I cannot hear any sound through the ear speaker and when putting the phone up to my ear the screen doesn't turn off automatically.
I can hear through speaker phone and with headphones plugged.
Anyone have any ideas?

I take it you've tried a reboot...? How about a Restore on itunes?

Possible hardware fault.... Does the brightness still auto adjust when you go from a dark to light area? or vice versa?
