My question is for sony V640 (aka K630) or W910 lovers.

What phone do you like more the sony V640 (aka K630) or the sony W910 & why?

I'm asking because before i made a topic asking what cellphone i should get & with help from fellow esato users i choose the W910 but i currently own a V640 (aka K630) so i'm wondering now if i made a good choice be honest thats what i want.

UPDATE 6.02.09: Check out my new full review of the V640i by clicking here

Now to be fair i can't comment good nor bad on the W910 as i don't have it yet which is why i started this topic so i can get your opinions.

I can say from research.

The W910 is a well designed slider phone with shake n shuffle feature & sensMe.

To be honest thats all i can say now as i don't have one yet its in transit.

So now its your personal opinion esato forum users whats your favorite the V640 (aka K630) or W910 & why?

I'll read all replys in this topic & reply if needed so look forward to your opinions.

Flattery will get you everywhere!
Here you go...

V640i

W910i

Specifications: K630i(V640i) v W910

V640i is a very good phone and excellent value, you made a good choice in buying it, but W910 is better. It's retail price was double the V640i retail when released, so it looks pretty good at NZ$399 quite frankly.

CarKitter your a legend thanks mate.

Oh hey Esato users another con with the V640 is it only play 10secs for message tones.

That Brings up this question does the W910 play full message tones?

If not do any Sony Ericssons?

Further more if there are no Sony Ericssons that play full message tones is there a way to make them play longer.

Say like put a full track mp3 as a message tone & when someones txtes it plays fully?

Thanks in advance.

Hey mate, another NZer here. I had the W910i (in fact that's my exact one in the picture above) and have had the opportunity to play with my friend's V640i. Both are great little phones so you're not doing bad either way. Overall I'd say the W910i is slightly better, and cheap now too.

On message tone lengths, all my SE phones have been restricted to 10 seconds. It is not just a V640i thing. You must understand that all these phones are essentially running the same software which has been optimised for each individual phone, so there will be no differences between phones on small things like message tone length.

I got a W910 which is in transit picked it up via Trade Me its brand new & talking cheap it was only $250 but thats the thing the Trader just listed it 1day & 10mins (or so) before i clicked by now if i waited 1 more hour i bet it would of sold there popular on Trade Me more so then the V640's so that must say something they have about a 80% sell rate on Trade Me & the ones that don't sell are normally just the ones that are over $399 (yes there are a few which is a laugh some people must not keep up with sales i suppose) but back on topic now in your personal opinion what was the pros & cons of the W910 anyone can feel free to leave a small review on either the V640 (aka the K630) or the W910 i love to hear your opinions.

This is a con in my view i don't exactly like the 10sec tones its bad if your got a important message you go outside for like 20secs & leave your phone inside & unless you pick up your phone to look you don't know that you got a message but hey i can overlook that i suppose after all i do adore the V640 its the best phone i'm had to date & i'm had like 20something since i was 13 not all Sony Ericsson i would say i've had every brand bar the IPhone which i'm sorry CarKitter but i personally think its over-hyped but thats just my opinion i know you think differently & that your opinion which is fine...allow me to say for the record the IPhone looks great, sounds great, feels great the only thing is upon release the media & Vodafone made it look like it was the greatest thing ever created hence saying its over-hyped i mean come on stores opening at Midnight...lines outside Mobile shops i know its true but why feed it off to others they never did that with the PS3 & some stores were open Midnight for that & there were lines & it too is like the next big thing...so in my view speaking personally its to over-hyped & one more thing Vodafone sticking what seems to be there top phone on On Account only is another put of i only do prepay...ok now back on Topic...

Posted by xzite
I can see this going off topic after my little rant about the IPhone haha but i'm ready for it. Just a add on from that last post i did - is there a way to get message tones playing longer (on the W910) without it stuffing up the phone?

Lol you need to fix your full stop button

There is a way using patches, but I don't know if they have ported the message length patch to w910 yet. To find out how to patch w910, google "a2 patching" or something along those lines.

By posting your comments in the review section that yea g linked to, others can easily read you comments without having to find this thread which, in a couple of months time will be buried among the thousands of other threads.

Muhammad Oli and I have also posted comments about the V630i and perhaps you like to add your own V630i review there too?

@xzite: I just went to Australia for a holiday a couple of years ago. Born and raised in Christchurch.

Pros for the W910i for me would be the big screen. Seriously, it is one heck of a nice screen, especially when you consider I went from the 1.8" V630i to the 2.4" of the W910i. The media player is great. The size of the phone is great. The fact that you get the Cyber-shot camera interface is great (phones like the W760i which is similar come with a far inferior camera interface). The A2 platform is another pro. I can't go back to the old SE interface now.

Cons would be that over time (5-6 months or so) the paint begins to wear away where parts of the sliding mechanism rub on each other. The camera isn't that flash (though you're not buying a Walkman phone for its camera). The software can at times be quite slow, especially on the Vodafone version of the phone.

Other than that its a sweet piece of kit.

@carkitter: I don't mind at all! In fact I think it's great that you used one of my shots.

Well being honest i don't know what A2 platform is i didn't even know there was a A1 haha but the camera i don't care about as long as it snaps decent pictures its fine its mainly music i'm worried about & being Walkman branded it should be sweet. I kinda figured the paint would wear from the sliding which i'm ok with after all most phones (not just sliders) wear out in the way of paint sooner or later like my V640i has on the middle key (the one above the number 2 that circle one) so who knows the W910i may give my current favorite (the V640i) a run for its money...what do you reckon? By the way whats cyber-shot interface?

Posted by Muhammad-Oli
Oh yeah definitely, the W910i is as good as the V640i in every way in terms of specs, but it has even more. So I have no doubt you'll be loving it as soon as you get your hands on it. Even the camera on the W910i meets the V640i in terms of quality.

The Cyber-shot interface is the menus you use when you're taking photos. You'll be well used to it on your V640i.
