it looks like a toy model.

Posted by AbuBasim
It makes all greenery turn white. I used max_wedge's method. It is very well suited for the i-mobile 902 with its 4 second shutter times in Night mode.

did you used a tripod for that?

amazing shots!

Posted by Shuuro
beautiful place and wonderful shots!.

Posted by shockk
Thanks, TheNerd and Shuuro!

I didn't use a tripod for that, but I placed the phone on a 3-feet wall nearby. I tried handheld, but could not keep my hand steady enough. lol

Macro shot, 800x800 crop at 100 percent scale. The Sony ICX495 CCD sensor from my first broken i-mobile 902, shot with my replacement i-mobile 902:

Another macro shot. Resized to 800x600. Detail of one of my wife's gold necklaces:

what settings did you use?

Posted by shockk
@ TheNerd, auto setting since there is sufficient lighting.

Posted by AbuBasim
Close-up of a hologram. (Not the best result. I had spot metering on by mistake so the paper is overexposed.)

I dont get it what is the difference between the metering types?

Posted by AbuBasim
Metering is the measurement of light in the scene you're shooting, for calculating automatic exposure. The i-mobile 902, like any *good* camera, provides three types: Matrix, Center and Spot. Read this page at DPReview.com for an explanation of the types.

Here's a slightly better version of the hologram photo:

I'm torn between a i-mobile 902 and a SE k810i. I realize the 902 has a fantastic camera and that is what I want most in my next phone, but how is the user interface and quality of the phone? The 810 feels great and has a nice setup, but since these two phones are about the same price, I'm not sure which to get.

Posted by AbuBasim
If you want a good camera and do not care about the quality of the phone then I recommend the 902. Actually, the 902 is not a bad phone, although texting can be very tedious on it. And I miss flight mode.

If you like the actual phone to be top quality then you should pick the K810i instead.

Also keep in mind that the 902 is not covered by any warranty if you import it yourself. And this is not comforting since the phone has quality issues.

I think I;ll end up with k810. I still need a good phone as well as camera.
thnx

@smoochy

I advise you to buy K810, because I had i-mobile 902, and apart from the camera it didn't suit me well, I'm not saying it's really bad as a phone, but it can't be compared with K800i, that I own now. I also wanted to buy K810i, but I tried it but didn't like the joystick, so I bought K800i.

@abu - Nice shots !

Posted by smoochy
Thanks SaLiH. I agree. Though, I haven't decided on the 800 or the 810 yet. Don't know if it's worth $50 for the lens cover that won't open in my pocket. That does drive me nuts with the k750 when it happens, so i may end up with the 810.
I hope i-mobile puts together a k800 copy with the 902's camera.

Comments ?

Just and update. I had the choice of an i-mobile 902 (in stock for 2.75 million rupiah) and the k810i (2.625 mil) yesterday. I settled on the 810. I just couldn't get over a mystery UI and a phone I'm not familiar with. The blue 810i really is pretty and it's a big upgrade from my k750i.

Thanks for all the input here.

@kt - Nice flower-shot !

Just fooling around, wasting water If you set ISO to 50, flash photos turn out quite well. But the distance has to be short, less than a metre so not very useful for portrait shots, unless you fancy the faces to look like those of dead people

Full size here in the Photos gallery.

Testing auto WB. Not 100 percent perfect but at least the red is red and not magenta/purple/pink! Original size here in the Photos section.

Testing color accuracy

Thanks Shuuro. I brought the 902 with me as the only camera to see how it coped and can only say that it needs a bigger lens to speed up the shutter while shooting indoors. It's almost like carrying an old antique camera which required people to be still for a very long time during exposure.

Juliette Forrest: No, no. Here: "F. O. C."

I don't get it... Why don't we see this camera module in SE phones? Why are they relying on Samsung parts when this Sony module gives great results?

Posted by AbuBasim
Because SE believes that consumers are more concerned about battery life than photo quality. (I don't care that my photos look like sh*t as long as I can shoot lots of them...)
