The app is pretty poor mate. It will only allow you to lock individual files instead of actual folders. Also its not very stable as when you try and lock a file, it repeatedly asks you if you want the application to read user data. When you press yes it asks you again which is annoying.

It wonīt ask you more than one time if you install this after

yes but it's better repeatedly answer this question to youre
phone than to youre girl or wife ,who is this chick on the phone

I just said you can avoid that repeated answer thing...

In the process of finding out if this will work on S700
Gawd... I dont like the walkman branding on the W900 or it might have been a decent upgrade..
People.. please.. why'd you ignore the S700

Posted by mb-new
Arez - what java certificate has been used?
sailaab - Java in S700 doesn't support local file access (JSR-75) so forget about it

is there any apps for locking folders?
Posted by ares
mb, you have to ask ixalon at ixalon.net ...it was him that made app and the used the certificate
ixalon told me he is on some serious apps for us w800/k750 users, using the file acess like this one

Do you guys know any other apps that lock "folders" and not individual files? Thanks.
Posted by max_wedge
I've never come across one that does folders, and I think it would by quite difficult to achieve. It's not like the file system is NTFS or anything similar so locking folders might be hard to achieve in such a way that the phone can't read them.
The repeated questions about permission are due to SE's java security implementation onthe K750, and nothing to do with the fileprotect app itself. There is nothing unstable about this app. It locks files with DES encryption, and it does this well and stable as a rock. It certainly doesn't lock up my handset like some java apps do....

so how does this program work? you specify a file to be locked? does it become hidden in the file manager view?
Posted by BOSSHOGG
nope. It just makes it an unviewable file, file name stays but no icon for the pic. if you click it you can only send the file.

is allowing the sw to read/write to the phone safe?
Posted by max_wedge
yes it's specifically designed with the jsr-75 api so that java apps can access the file system. There are many programs already available such as tequilacat bookreader, read maniac, file protect, phone manager, text editor and others that use jsr-75

how do i eilminate that nagging query if the sw can read/write to the phone?

where do i put this file in?

just put the adress on your browser and download the app...

nope, not on you phone. To unlock it on your computer requires software that can hack DES encryption, or a brute force password hack.

Thanks great application. Been looking for this. The only one that I had previously would only let you protect one file at time which is pretty useless.
I believe there is a way to stop the allow read and write prompts coming up. When you have the cursor over the File Protect application hit the more option, then got to Permissions and then you can allow write and read access always so that it does not alway prompt you.
Let me know if this works. It work with a number of my other programs.

@metro
only 2 options are:
1- No
2- Always ask

You people must have problems with reading: the read/protect restriction can be removed by installing the jad!!!
How many times need i repeat it???
Posted by metroside
Relax Arez, I was just seeing if it was alternative way of doing it. Aren't these forums around putting forward new ideas and trying out new things, and then sharing them with others...
Posted by josephhh
Well, in my k750, the only options for read/write data are:
1. No
2. Always Ask
There's no option for 'Always', so the only choice is still to use the jad file..
Posted by ares
When you install the jad, like i said, you will be given the option "never ask"
edit: know i realize what you people were trying to do...sorry for the rant

Now, it would be really nice to have jads like this for other protected apps...

I had the same problem and this is how I solved it: Uninstall the app and copy both .jad and .jar files in your /Other folder in memory stick then select the .jad and choose install, this automatically installs also the .jar
Now you should be able to choose "never ask" under Read/Write permissions.
