The app is pretty poor mate. It will only allow you to lock individual files instead of actual folders. Also its not very stable as when you try and lock a file, it repeatedly asks you if you want the application to read user data. When you press yes it asks you again which is annoying.

In the process of finding out if this will work on S700

Gawd... I dont like the walkman branding on the W900 or it might have been a decent upgrade..

People.. please.. why'd you ignore the S700

Arez - what java certificate has been used?

sailaab - Java in S700 doesn't support local file access (JSR-75) so forget about it

Do you guys know any other apps that lock "folders" and not individual files? Thanks.

I've never come across one that does folders, and I think it would by quite difficult to achieve. It's not like the file system is NTFS or anything similar so locking folders might be hard to achieve in such a way that the phone can't read them.

The repeated questions about permission are due to SE's java security implementation onthe K750, and nothing to do with the fileprotect app itself. There is nothing unstable about this app. It locks files with DES encryption, and it does this well and stable as a rock. It certainly doesn't lock up my handset like some java apps do....

so how does this program work? you specify a file to be locked? does it become hidden in the file manager view?

nope. It just makes it an unviewable file, file name stays but no icon for the pic. if you click it you can only send the file.

yes it's specifically designed with the jsr-75 api so that java apps can access the file system. There are many programs already available such as tequilacat bookreader, read maniac, file protect, phone manager, text editor and others that use jsr-75
