iTunes 6

- Released today - download here
iTunes 6 lets fans purchase and download over 2,000 music videos and six short films from Academy-Award winning Pixar Animation Studios for just $1.99 each. Also, in a landmark deal with Disney, iTunes is now offering current and past episodes from two of the most popular shows on television, "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost," as well as the new drama series "Night Stalker" and the two most popular shows from Disney Channel, "That's So Raven" and "The Suite Life of Zack & Cody," for just $1.99 per episode. Customers can now purchase and download their favorite television shows from iTunes the day after they air on TV, watch them on their Mac or PC, and Auto-Sync them onto the new iPod¨ for viewing anywhere.

Apple Remote with iPod

If you connect your iPod to a home stereo, powered speakers or TV set, the Apple Remote lets you experience your songs, slideshows and more from across the room. Just plug your iPod into the Universal Dock and choose a playlist, slideshow or video. Then, sit back, relax and enjoy. Ready to move on to the next song? No need to get up from your sofa--just press the forward button on the Apple Remote. Phone ringing? Just click pause, then pick up where you left off.

The Apple Remote offers play/pause, volume control and forward/back buttons.

The Apple Remote requires the iPod Universal Dock and any iPod with a Dock connector.

Apple Remote with Mac

Included with the new iMac G5, the Apple Remote gives you total command of your music, photos, videos and DVDs from anywhere in the room. It combines with Front Row — a menu-driven, full-screen interface — to make accessing your iMac's digital bounty from any seat in the room as simple as navigating your iPod. When you click the Apple Remote's Menu button, your desktop fades and Front Row's sleek interface takes its place to give you control over your music in iTunes, your photos in iPhoto, the videos in your Movies folder and whatever DVDs you want to play. Turn up the volume. Shuffle. Skip to the next chapter on your DVD. Play a slideshow, a home movie you made in iMovie, even a movie trailer. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

video ipod maybe?

From Engadget

New iPod announced! The new iPod, as speculated, features video capabilities and the wider display, but it’s still a music-first device.

The device will feature a 2.5-inch display, QVGA resolution (320 x 240), and will MPEG-4 h.264 (natch), and presumably Quicktime.

The new iPod will be 30% thinner than the current 20GB iPod, and will feature a 60GB version and editions of both in black. The 20GB should go for $299, and the 60GB for $399. They’ll be shipping next week.

i saw what was muted as the vidoe ipod in one of the uk s national newspapers the other day.
now i dont know if it was the real thing or just a photoshop of what they thought.
but it was about the size of the nano with the screen filling most of the surface and the ipod wheel tucked at the bottom looked very very nice if it was real

Sync, Look and Listen
Playing your iPod is only half the fun. Try filling it with downloads from the iTunes Music Store. Choose from over 2 million songs, 20,000 podcasts, 2,000 music videos or your favorite ABC and Disney television shows, download them to your Mac or PC and sync them to your iPod. Add an optional audio cable to play music from the iPod to your home stereo or use an optional S-video cable with iPod to play VJ on your TV. You can perform the same big-screen feat with iPod photo slideshows. Oh, and you can do it all from across the room using the optional Universal Dock and handy new -----> Apple remote.

OMG:

My next computer is definitely confirmed. I'm definitely getting an iMac, I mean, built in iSight, and loads of new stuff including the fact that its so much thinner as well. This is everything I wanted. Plus that little bit more.

Cool, I'm really pleased.

I'm glad I held out on my 3rd Gen iPod until now, and I think I'll get a video one at some point in the near future. Especially considering that its thinner! and looks cooler in my opinion.

iMac + iPod, my next investments me thinks!!!

Ive ordered one of them 60GB ipods.

Now i dont know what to do with my PSP now. i have loads of shows and films for it as i got a bunch of 1GB duo pros.

Ahh well, i hope i will get the ipod in a couple of weeks.

I wonder why they just call it ipod no a video ipod or videopod. i guess this is the ultimate!

Haha i was saying a few years ago apple a going down but it seems they are looking to take ove the world.

because it's a DAP, not a PVP...

We'll this is just an iPod with video capability... They will soon bring out a proper video ipod at some point.

With better specs larger screen etc.

This is meant for short home movies/tv shows etc. Wouldn't be ideal to watch full films on like the psp.

As the above post says... It's a music player first.

any 1 managed to find a comparison picture of the new ipod against the old 1?

Posted by Gigs
Because if they called it a video ipod, steve would have to back down on all his comments stating they wouldn't make a video ipod.

Black 30gb is a MUSTTTTTTTT!!!!!

I'm hoping it's not going to have problems like the nano.

Also i noticed the edges are square... i would've hoped for rounded like the 4th gen... but whatever...great player.

Posted by kk.226
Think this is a life size comparison of the new iPod & 4th Gen

damn.. im soo tempted to buy one right now..but i know in the next few months thre will be a new release

Posted by kk.226
Then sell it... put say $50 ontop, and get the newer one!

Posted by p900 lover
so its wider then?
i looked at the size on the appl webiste and when i drew it it looked the same size, hmm

Posted by Jools
The width and height are the same as previous iPods (+/- 1mm I think) but it is 31% thinner.

The screen is bigger but within the same size case as before. You'll notice there's much less border around the screen compared with previous iPods.
