I wonder if the firmware can be applied to branded phones... Mines an O2 (week 19). I haven't had the standby-freeze bug but obviously want to have the latest firmware.

Given that O2 are currently testing the new firmware for stock to be released w/c June 20, is it reasonable to assume that the update should be applicable to their handsets?

I'm new to SE and the online update service. Does anyone know whether branded handset owners usually have to wait for brand-specific firmware, or if they can get it from SEUS?

Branded firmware is indeed available from the SEUS, but not always immediately. [addsig]

I received an email yesterday from the same place, i.e. the sony ericsson call centre, from a John Davies confirming there was an update available and thats why I called HAYS as mentioned in my post here yesterday who also confirmed it

lets please not fill this thread with "when is it coming", "why isn't it here" etc etc because posts like that serve no purpose except to dilute the thread

we know its coming soon to SEUS so lets just have some patience or send your phone to HAYS (or wherever) if you can't wait

I have had various (most) SE phones since they launched .... i have NEVER received a direct/straight answer from the SE Support team...they always say that its not confirmed or they don't have plans

They sometimes don't even know details that have already been made public and are on their website...they seem to be kept in the dark frequently or have little access to the developers
