I assume you mean Instant Message. Usually this is association with AIM, yahoo or MSN. Many phones have IM clients or can have IM clients installed.

also its not only the phone that needs support there are some tariffs/operators that dont allow it...

Not necessarily yahoo or msn etc.... Ppl can chat via sms too. It is also called IM.

Yeah.You can chat on SMS as you would with IM. But you know is like going on holiday driving with a tractor.Surely it will get you there just don't look at your fuel bill and don't have to high expectation when is coming to comfort levels.Oh yeah, the time - it may take 'a little' longer to get there. ;-)

you can use an instant messaging application on any java enabled phone..in fact there are several cool applications which support MSN, ICQ, AOL...i havent come across yahoo yet, but the others definitely. Im using Emessenger on my K700i, which is basically a mobile MSN messenger which looks and works exactly as it does on a pc.
