Has SEUS messed up my K700i? |

Hi,
I have an unbranded K700i with R2L001. I have successfully used SEUS before and I have been looking for a firmware update to fix a couple of annoying bugs.
This morning I try SEUS and it fails. It says this:
"There is currently no service for devices belonging to your operator.
Your device is not permitted to use this service."
Why is this happening? I don't have an operator - its an UNBRANDED phone.
Is this a temporary SEUS problem, or has SEUS written (by mistake) the wrong firmware to my phone on a previous upgrade?
I don't know what to do now. Please does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks |

it happens, unfortunately. same with P series too as some of those unbranded ones can't be updated
is your CDA on the List of K700 CDAs allowing/not allowing use of SE US?

Thanks for the info.
If this is correct, I am very pissed about it. But it does seem strange, i.e. why did it work before????????!?!?
I have used SEUS to successfully update this phone 3 times already with no problems!
Chip
EDIT: My customisation is CDA102286/17 R2A. This is on the list of unbranded phones that should *work* with SEUS!

some branded SE phones cannot be upgraded bec there is no new firmware for those branded units...
thats why its easier to upgrade- because it's available, those "generic" units.

As you will see from my first post, my phone *is* unbranded. I bought an unbranded phone, so I could use different networks and ALSO so it would be easier to upgrade the firmware. And now the bastards have blocked it. |

Yeah they are having problems with SEUS and as they confirmed to me "we have no idea when this will be fixed". I upgraded mine to R2AE033 a couple of weeks ago and although it seemed ok, I now get the same messages as you and I am not sure that the firmware went in ok.
I think you are best staying with R2L001 for the time as it is fairly stable and hopefully SE will fix their update service soon.
One thing that would be nice to see on their update service website is details of the current firmware being installed and some form of warning message confirming that their update service is patchy at best and may corrupt the phone. I suppose that would be a sign of weakness though so doubt we will ever see it |

I have the same CDA code and current firmware of R2L001 as Chippy99. Same issues trying to upgrade as well so I'm going to leave it for a few weeks and try again later.

If it doesn't work, you may need to send it off to a repair centre. What is your full software version? Is it R2L001 at the top and down at the bottom? Are there any error codes on our SE Update Service log file? |

Yes, its R2L001 top and bottom.
I don't know what you mean by "Are there any error codes on our SE Update Service log file"? Sorry I am new to all this.
The reason I want to update (BTW) is because of a *very* annoying bug in R2L001: Basically, when you scroll through the phone book, many of the numbers are wrong. Which is very annoying when someone asks you for a number and you read them the wrong one. If you make a call - or edit the details - then you get the correct number. But if you just scroll through the list, many of them are incorrect. I have reported this before. Its extremely annoying.

Seems to be some problem with the SEUS presently..like yourself I was able to use the SEUS to get R2L a few months back, then I tried to get R2AE it worked initially, bugged out at 90% and left my phone buggy and butchered-couldn't even connect to it with FMA.
I tried to flash it again to be told that my operator doesn't allow use of the service, despite my phone being operator free.
I had to use SETool to flash my phone successfully to the latest f/w-with a shed load of help from this board, hyperia blue especially.
If it never began flashing then you're fricking lucky because at least your phone is unchanged-mine screwed up partway through-my advice to anyone now is to not touch SEUS, it's a pile of sh1t. |

Sorry, I'm new to this flashing and update thing.
Do you remove your SIM card before flashing/updating or can you leave it in your phone? ...regarding SEUS and DaVinci
Thanks in advance. |

It works if you leave it in. I have never tried with no sim card installed, but I would have thought that would be OK too.
(I am speaking generally. Of course it doesn't work *at all* for me right now, hence this thread.)

It seems they fixed SEUS - for now at least.
Just tried it again and it updated me to R2AE033.
The ***king phone book bug is *still* there though. I am amazed everyone isn't screaming about this.
How can we put up with the phone book displaying the wrong ***king numbers???!??!?!? Its completely unacceptable.
