I tried to connect setool using usb IR over com 1,the soft seems to recognize the presence of a phone because it gives ''open com ports ok'' message but when I try to write the sms.txt file as for changing the sms tone, setool will give a ''press power on shortly'' message what does it mean?

Mid. I also think amr is also possible. No info about length though. There is another thread of similar name where DC-UK had a try.

The sms sound that plays in the main speaker when not making a call are stored in midi format. The sms sound that plays in the background of the call is stored in amr format. If you replace these sounds they must have the exact same name as the old and be in the same format - period!

I don't recommend you to do it if you don't know what you're doing! I spent a lot of credits finding my ways around how to do it, but most of all, I was willing to accept the fact that I was playing around and that the price could be a dead phone without any warranty! If you cannot accept that, DON'T DO IT! (But... even a dead phone can be woken up though.)

Don't play around with different file formats than the original ones. Don't play around with different names than the original ones either. And - of course - you cannot use SE Tool with IR - period!

I can't recommend you where to get a cable since I don't recommend you to do this! Why? Because I don't know what skills you have and if you are willing to loose all the money you spent on your phone. Lastly, if you don't write the script correct, then SE Tool will still use up your credit(s)...

gbrooks3 and vee tought me what I know in this subject, but most important - I accepted that I could have a dead and useless phone afterwards and go straight out and buy a brand new one without nagging... so, what you need to know is found here on esato (just search and read) and if you are willing to take the risk, fine with me... but don't just "say" that you're prepared to take the risk - mean it!

Of course I will not go for destroying my k700
-I don't have ''credits''
-I wanted mp3 for sms alert
-the rs232 cable seems to be not suitable
Now that setool has revealed this sms secret,SE will perhaps give us a new FW which permit us FINALLY to change them with no danger
