I'm from Greece and when i went tomorrow to have my K700i upgraded from R2AA003 to R2AE033,they told me that the R2AE firmware corrects only a bug that occurs with some batteries and there isn't anything new and if i want to have my phone upgraded i'll pay 15 euros and that the official current firmware is R2AA!!But then,i went to another service center and they'll upgrade my phone tomorrow!Is it true that R2AE corrects only this battery bug?By the way,is there a new firmware called R2AG001?Thanks in advanc

there is no R2AG001 for now except some developer version, so don't keep your hopes high... when final version of new firmware is ready (and don't expect it in next few weeks) you will know ... R2AE is pretty stable and good firmware... there are quite a few threads discussing what new and what's improved and i can point you to this one:

They said that they won't upgrade my phone because it don't have the battery bug problem!And also,that the R2AE isn't newer than R2AA and they upgrade only the phones that they have this problem!Are they serious?They say that there aren't other improvements!!

@vee

Thanks for the info that R2AGxxx is a developer version. Many people now think this is a final and upgradable version today since some one made a complete new thread about it.

Always facts from you - no guesses! Thanks!!

@vee

Some one now states there is a R2AE034 available instead of R2AG001. Do you have any info if this is a developer version or a final version that now is actually available?

Here's the link: http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=80324

I figure this: If SE releases such a "soon" upgrade from R2AE033, then there must be a serious bug or something that they found in R2AE033...

@CyberVisitor

i guess you are referring to the thread i started, all i said was a new firmware had been released on EMMA II no where did i say this was a final version and i clearly stated in the original version (no edit) "no details". I think many people have read too much into this.

However i am sure we will discover the situation soon.

Please understand this: 99.9% of all the people here think that a post about a new firmware release is about a final, upgradable version! If you mention nothing about the possibility that it might be a developer version in beta stage, then the majority of all the readers here will start hunting down a way to upgrade. That's hard facts. Since the release of the K700i there has been many many beta versions of it's firmware and none of them has been posted here as "available" or whatever you wrote in your first post before modifying it!

sorry, i did not realise you were an expert in the field. But i got that information from a reliable source, and all indications points that someone (vee knows this person) will release a new Firmware taken from the EMMA II server shortly.

I mean to have no arguement with you, but this is a discussion forum not an official SE update forum. I stand by that thread.

Because the platform sends bogus messages while charging, that is why!!!..But why this change of heart?..We sense a charger connected, oops, we will not shut down after all!!!..*********************** UI BASIC, HOLD YOUR HORSES

I have to agree with Cybervisitor and indeed I made the same mistake when Vee created the R2AE thread such that he ended up changing the title to make it clearer as to where it was and wasn't available

anyway, this confusion is over now so lets not get angry or upset

all,

R2AE033 is latest available firmware version for K series phones... it is availiable in Service Centres not on SE Update Service yet...

Sony Ericsson is always developing new version, so logically after R2AE033 (yes there is R2AE034 and also R2AG001 - maybe they just put a search function for languages that didn't have it or something else! - , but as there were R2AE028, R2AE031 etc. - only WORK IN PROGRESS) , new version arrived for test... they are only WIP versions for now... as I said before if and when there is final version you will know... I am not saying that R2AG001 will not be final version, but it is not FOR NOW!!!

no changes list for now, no release date for now, no final name... it may end up like for example R2AL007 or whatever...

hope this clears this now,

certainly, i suppose i underestimated how fast the information gets out of control. But it doesnt do any harm to speculate now and again.

No problem! I just think that there should be a difference on how people post the availability of firmwares. If a firmware is available and it's possible for people to actually upgrade (somehow, like at service centers, online servers etc.), then write so in the post! If it's "seen" somewhere but not available in anyway (like at service centers, online servers etc.), then also write so!

That way people who has no knowledge will know what it's all about and stop desperate searches for the "new" firmware (like calling their local Service Centers like crazy!!).

Anyway, thanks for the info!
