I don't see the resemblance between the latest SE phones and the Nokia phones nor do I find that Nokia phones are "round".

Since the T610 the SE design has gone on a different path. Like it or not but is still a SE-face. One could hardly mistake the k700 or J200 for a Nokia?? Neither for a Siemens?

The s700is swivel design is a direct copy of the Motorola Swivel phone. Agreed the SE version looks much better, but that doesnt over ride the fact that it isnt an original.

Both swivel phones were released in a too short period of time for SE or another brand to copy it.
And then who was the first to make a candy-bar phone? And are all the others copycats? And the clamshell? Etc.

While I have used neither d k700i nor S700, they do not look nokia-ish in any way I can tell. Maybe, yes, a departure from traditional SE looks, but definitely not nokia style. The pxxx series, which I have used, are all SE, I can tell.

The Candy bar and Flip are basic designs .
The slide and Swivel are radical departures , and charges of being "inspired" by the competitor can be levelled as in any creative venture .

And Eldars review of the S700i makes it perfectly clear whether the S700i is "inspired" by Motorola or not .The S700i was released a full 6 months after the Motorola v80 .

If its talking about design forms i.e. candy bar, clam, swivel etc, we can not really say anyone copies anyone. Someone 'invents' the form and others take it up. No problem with that. Someone started the clam, but every brand has at least one clam on their line-up of products today. Nothing wrong with that.

Its like fashion.

yup, I agree, as long as there's something innovative and unique in the way you use the basic design.
resistance is futile.

Well , there are so many posts around this forum where SE hardcore fans keep claiming that so and so manufacturer copies SE in whatever aspect.

I reckon turnaround is fair play .

In similar circumstances to this , the members never defend the other manufacturers . But God forbid if anyone raise a finger at SE !!!

What are you talking about? The old Sony and Ericsson phones and the first SE mobiles really looked cheap and absolutely ugly. The design did get better in 2003 and the 2004 phones like the Z1010 and the S700i really look great. Look at Nokia - their new phones lose on image and priority. I really don't know whats your problem.

Whats my problem ?

The fact that if the title of the thread was " How XYZ Manufactyrer copies SE ! " , there would have been tons of posts agreeing and reiterating how cheap the other manufacturers are.

If the title gets changed to " How SE copies XYZ Manufacturer!" , the members of this forum get all defensive and convolute facts to try and wrongly prove how SE is the greatest.

Lets have some consistency . I'd rather see plain facts than pro-SE-fanaticism in the garb of pseudo-facts .
