Cheers Guys.

I just glad I did not buy a sync-station to do it!

Will try and get it done via a Voda Experience Store this weekend.

Seems like at least one or two people in this thread have updated an Orange branded K700i...

Also, I don't recall anyone posting any problems updating with Orange branding in this thread

(come on O2/SE - sort it out!)

Updated my K700 on Orange last night using my DSS-25 - Absolutely no problems whatsoever - the update page even told me to go and charge my phone for a bit first - damned handy that!

The big shame is --- I have an Orange SPV C500 coming next week, as the wife wants the K700 as she loves it and of course, I must not have the same phone ;(

Why can't I use java apps or java games after using the online update service?

Really annoying, just says "Invalid program"

Anyone else with this problem? (Unbranded phone)

I read that Sony Ericsson is making a driver for the USB cable DCU-11
so this update will be possible to do with that also.
Swedens biggest mobile magazine is stating this on their homepage.
www.mobil.se

Bummer.. I just ordered the DSS-25 @45€

Yeah, I read that too but I just think www.mobil.se is trying too make up for an earlier misstake when they claimed that it did actually work with the DCU-11.
Because now they claim that it should work when SE links the updatepage from the supportpage.
The link is allready on the SE supportpage, in Sweden anyway.
So I don't think SE is working on some sort of new driver for the DCU-11

I updated my K700 (Orange branded) last night and so far it seems to have worked. Haven't tested absolutely everything yet but the delay on call answering seems shorter. There are subtle changes, for example there is now a white dot that slides around under the icons on the main menu, and if you're backstepping out of a deep menu, a note pops up to tell you to hold down the 'back' key, which it never used to do. Orange have also decided to put a button in each media folder to download more content, eg pictures, ringtones etc, which is less subtle...

This is in the R2L version, not something Orange have put there. I have it and mine is unbranded

Firmware Overview (NB: this service should give you R2L001 or maybe an operator specific equivalent):

http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=66330&start=0

You can use a usb cable to update using this service, but it must be either a DSS-20 or DSS-25, and this MUST be stated somewhere on the base. If you look a few posts up there is a rumor of eventually being able to use the DCU-11 cable to run the update - but as far as I know you can't use this at the moment.

I don't know any way in which you could upgrade the memory of the K700i. Besides, the K700i's firmware/software would have been written to use the current amount/type of memory so I would say that this is impossible. Personally, 42MB is easily enough for me anyway

EDIT: messing about trying to fit expandable memory, etc, would also void your warranty. If your after a phone with expandable memory then take a look at the SE S700 or the SE V800.
