Well I am def. confused. There is a wholesaler in the U.S. that has hundreds of new phones with R3A. Is this a fake or where does R3A come from. Is the newest firmware available to ANYONE/ANYWHERE yet?

If anyone wants the company's name I will provide. GEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZ!!!!!

So many stories. Hard to know what is right!

Thanks.

I have to say it's strange to argue about a sw name, but why not... Fact is that there is no sw available yet,so why not just wait(?).Nobody, except sw developers and other test-personel, has a "beta-sw", so we can only be patient. The OA sw earlier mentioned, does not work for the phone, and I guess not many knows what it's for either. To make a long story short(too late now ),those of us who knows, will tell (rather quick, I guess!).

The latest sw for T68 should be R1A. My friend's just got his phone upgraded 2 days ago and now it's working like a charm

Cheers

Hi all...

I would like to make a note to all that I've just gotton a new phone and its a T68m with the new software R1A or R3A. I checked the back of my phone carefully and it does have both labels on it.

Thanx...

no need to argue.

it doesn't matter what the major upgrade will be called as long as we get the upgrade as soon as possible!!!

I spoke to Sony Ericsson helpdesk.
They told me this...

Today we have these softwares available:
Model: Date: Release:
T68i 20020327 R2A014
T68m 20020212 R2B013

I went on to asking if the T68i software should work in a T68m, since they are supposed to be identical in the hardware (except for the shell and better lighting for the buttons).
The answer I got out of them (after some explaining) is that "yes, it should have worked except that the software will detect that you have a T68m and then refuse to work".

So what they have done is to put in a check in the software so that those of us who went and bought a T68m can NOT use the T68i software now, but we WILL be able to use the same software in May when a new software will be released.

I think this is about as clear as it gets?

b9AcE.... when upgrading the software in a Ericsson phone it checks the IMEI number to identify which model it is, this is why you can't use T68i software on a T68m.... but even if you somehow could make it believe your T68m was a T68i it wouldn't work, this because the T68m needs a filesystem upgrade before you can use the new software.

Hi,
I just got my Indonesian model T68i last week and when I check the software and the back of the phone it said R2A. But on the battery it said R1A. Does it mean that R1A is the official serial code for T68i and all of the software revisions (R1B, R2A, R2B, R3A) are "beta" versions of T68i OS? Do they change the label on the phone back if you updated the software?
