Hehe, I have actually thought of that myself, but I like testing things, finding out new stuff, and downloading apps and stuff directly from the internet to the p800 is a nice feature.
But I use my laptop for det most of the surfing. But lets say I am at work, working as an IT consulant, and need to pick up some things, just plug in the BT adapter to the customers PC, and uploads the stuff I need, or forward it to him.
There are quite a bunch of nice ways to use it. And the real question is really, can I synchronise my phone, and my computer, or take backups through the BT adapter. If I can do that, I am aware that I also can surf through the BT adapter, and so forth.
Hope that answers to some of your questions :=)
Kind Regards

Just my imagination ...
- to test my wap site and MP4 streaming server without paying GPRS cost
- my company dont let me install ICQ on my company PC, so i gotta run in on my P800
- update worldmate data
um ... anyone try this before:
while a computer is connecting to the Internet through ADSL and a P800 is attached to it with USB cable, another device (e.g. PDA, PC) try to connect to P800 as dial-up modem through BT and share the Internet connection of the first computer like this:
Internet<--ADSL-->CompA<--USB-->P800<--BT-->CompB
oops, don't ask me why =p |

Does any one know if there are other phones out there that supports this "surf through pc" functionality ? |

Hi, im thinking of buying a D-Link BT gateway.
The current structure of my LAN is [Internet]--[DSL modem]--[Server (with shared connection)]--[Switch]--[All home pc:s]
What im planing to do is to connect the BT gateway directly to the Switch. Allthough after reading this thread and thinking over what i want to do, im quite confused.
What i want to be able to do is to: Surf the web via P900>BT>DSL.
I would also like to be able to browse files on my comp/server and control some apps on my comp.
The benefits of connecting a gateway directly to the Switch would be that partially, i split my appartment with a friend who also has a P900 and also will want to be able to surf via the DSL on it.
On the contrary I don't really know how to be able to control my own comp if im not directly connected to it via a usb BT dongle instead of being gatewayed.
Conslusion: Does anyone know if im at all able to surf like you do if I use a Ethernet based BT gateway instead of the direct usb-dito?
The possibility of that succeeding i think is fully possible, allthough it might make it harder to remotecontrol my pc.
Best Regards
Jonathan

Of course itīs silly just surfing on your Smartphone when youīre sitting in front of a PC where itīs must faster and cheaper to do this.
BUT...
There is Software for the P800/900 that wants to update itself or to load information (e.g. for later offline reading) through an internet connection. So if someone prefers doing this via expensive GPRS than through the cradle via PC-Connection, that one would be silly.
Have fun.

Hi folks whilst you all are talking of dummies and connections I was wondering if there was any kind soul out there willing to post a start to finish on how to set this connection up including required software hardware for a poor phone and pc novice, as this sounds like a marvellous peice of ingenuity |
