this guy in this review says there is continuous zoom through all three lenses. he says it while talking about video recording so not sure if it applies to still photos but I would assume it does.

It is worth noting that the VIII does not support the new SD Express standard but still uses UHS-I SDXC. That is disappointing considering even nintendo threw an SD express into the switch 2 and they're notorious for being "behind the times" with hardware.

If the VIII can maintain minimum 60MB/s transfer speed at room temperature of 35 degrees celsius for the micorSD that will already be a great achievement, let alone the express version. Heat control is the key challenge for such compact and water resistance phone.

Also,
Watch below youtube link using highest resolution and then pause the shots and compare. Can see improvements again! So Sony have still yet to fully optimize the 24mm sensor as predicted. 140mm will also slowly be improved in the future.

Amazon has Spigen screen protector for 1 VIII, since it´s the same as for VI and VII.

Yea, I figured since it's the same screen I can probably use the same protector. But I am wondering if it is necessary with the new GG Victus 2. Haven't seen much about it and chances are i will probably get a protector anyway just to be safe. Especially with the price of the phone so high.

Unfortunately, amazon sweden will not ship to me. There must be some patent or approval issue with spigen selling these screen protectors in the US. I can purchase the armored cases (if they release them) but not the screen protectors.

I think they could have upgraded to SD express. Yes, those readers create more heat but they could have throttled it a bit. Alternatively, they could have upgraded the SDXC to UHS-II or III. Instead, we have simply UHS-I. Are these speeds sufficient to shoot burst or 4k60 video? I don't know. On my 1ii, I cannot shoot burst or shoot 4K to the SD card. Curious if this is also a limitation on VII and VIII.

There are definitely improvements in the telephoto quality, which is of course expected based on the upgraded sensor. I'm not too concerned with comparisons because everything is very close these days and that nuance in difference can come down to the person taking the photo.

I think they did open up, because initial transfer speed usually can go to even 500+MB/s (yes, 500+ MB/s), and slowly throttled down to aouund 30+ MB/s. Thats why if they can maintain minimally 60MB/s write speeds at 35 degrees celsius room temperature for at least 30 minutes will really be a great achievement.

This video compares low light comparison 12 24 70 and telemacro shots qualtiy comparison. 1VIII improved all! Remember to select english subtitle.

Not really, it is a final product, it is just that the camera isnt actually so good..

Or the review is not that professional and knowledge based.

You can not blame reviewers and specialized phone websites every time you don´t like what you read regarding a phone. Similiar websites will probabbly write the same..

Actually, I can. Most of them have zero clue what they're talking about, sony related or not.

Gold phone...no.
I was very very close to buy the gold from Sony Sweden yesterday. Luckily I didn´t.

Today was the black 16GB/1TB SIM free available from Buyee Japan. Sold out from their first seller, but from the second they bought it successfully.
I paid Y300,200 including Buyee fee and insurance.

Aren't you concerned about 4g/5g frequency issues and japanese limitations like shutter sound and who knows what else?

model frequencies are published and he has gotten japanese models before. i'm sure he wouldn't be buying a phone that would not work.

camera shutter sound can be disabled once outside of japan and using a non-japanese SIM.

Just pre-ordered. I've chosen the Sand Pink XM6 headphones and half price desk stand. Delivery in June. The 1TB was sold out.

Nice! What is special about the desk stand? I don't think I've seen much about that yet.

Last year I bought the Japan exclusive 1 VII 16GB/512GB.
I haven´t had any 4G and 5G frequency issues with the phone here in Sweden. It has worked flawlessly without any problems. I have no problem with shutter sound. There is a setting for shutter sound on/off, but I have it always on.

I assume that it is the same with this year's Xperia model.

@moogoo

It was half price as part of the bundle and it matches the Garnet Red colour of the phone and it has a finger loop attached to it, which acts like a wrist strap.

I just took a look. You were talking about the style cover. I thought there was an actual desk stand you place your phone onto. It is nice of them to include that finger loop though I wish they'd built it into the back of the cover instead of attached to a cord/string.

too bad sony UK doesn't shit internationally. I might have considered the preorder bundle. but since that's not an option, I am still on the hunt for the best and cheapest method to get a 16gb model from japan.

my cracked screen 1ii is really feeling slow these days and most of all, lack of security updates is concerning.

Did you not consider eBay? This seller offers free postage and does all versions, it seems.
