All 6 variants for both models are now present on the SIM site, which would mean we should see a EU release.

Seems like crickets..
As much as I'd like to see some innovation and advancements in the viii, I'm not getting my hopes up. At this point I'm just waiting to see and worst case, I'll be able to get the vii for a lower price.

All I want to know is if we will see LYTIA 901 in the Xperia 1 Mark 8.
That alone might be sufficient for me to buy the Xperia again.

I think the chances of that are pretty slim to none. But we can hope. Another non us release it seems. Don't blame them for abandoning the US market.

Sad if true, but what makes you think that? Seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot to give their best sensor to the competition.

They didn't spend money to develop this new amazing sensor so they could let it languish on their tiny market share phone.
Only way they'll put it in their phone is if whoever else uses it doesn't demand exclusivity.
But I doubt they would make it exclusive to their phones. That would really be shooting themselves in the foot. Let's not forget they are out to make money first and foremost.

Don't know about that concept. I'd like to see them get back to the dual-front style - TBH.

concept looks nice, but unrealistic since it's missing all the sensors and would never be single lens these days.
Bring back 21:9 !

I agree. And the notification light.
The Lytia 901 sensor seems to going the way of reducing the number of lenses required, according to this.

Won't a phone with multiple lenses always 'seem' more powerful than one with a single lens, to the average buyer?

To me, that article just says digital zoom will be improved but 4x is not going to replace a 7x optical zoom. with a 200mp they should be trying to compete with samsung's super zoom or whatever it's called.
the improved HDR and AI processing would be very much appreciated though. I would love to see it in the m8, but again, i really doubt they'll do it. happy to be proven wrong though.

All well and good, the sensor would be a nice addition, but for the time, there is no confirmation Sony will use it in the new model.
