yes, sumaho didn't mention that the new files were submitted in late march 2026, and they became available only today, april 13.
the 1 VII was april 17th for both submission and availability, I wouldn't call that end of April like they said.

Yup. Shouldn't be long now. I've just purchased a pair of XM6 headphones and now wondering if I should have waited to see what deals come along.
even if it comes with a pair of XM6s, you can just sell those and recoup your purchase. the pricing in the UK is crazy even for the bundle (at least with the conversion to USD). I'll be importing from Japan and will plan to get the 512/16GB version or whatever the top end version is.
Will you save money by importing from Japan?

Absolutely. Sony does not sell in the US anymore, so my only choices would be to import from Europe or Japan. With the exchange rates, I'd be saving a considerable amount importing from Japan. Take for example the VII was preorder for 1400 pounds, I think? Something like that. After the exchange at the time, I was looking at $1800 USD, which is crazy. That wasn't even for the 512/16GB version either!
That's the other reason for importing from Japan because not many other locales make the 512/16GB version available. I update my phone once every 4-5 years, so having more storage and RAM makes sense. From Japan, the VII would cost me about $1400 USD for the 512/16GB version and then I would get the sales tax charge refund of 10%. All in price would be $1260 USD for the top model. DHL shipping to the US would probably cost $50-70 USD. So I've got my top model for roughly $1300, which I can live with.
Of course, pricing for the VIII will be different, but I'm confident importing from Japan will be cheaper than anywhere else that might have the 512/16gb version.

I have always been a Sony fan.
May 24 last year my 1 VII 16/512GB order went thru. A couple of days later it was sold out from the site I´m buying.
I really hope I will be able to order the Japan-only top version of the VIII.

My wife is using 1VII, and it is really great. The best Xperia to date. The camera is super good, the display is good (bright even under the sunlight), and the battery life is super good. I am hoping for 1VIII to surpass this. If not, I am going to get the 1VII.

Haven't used other brands besides Samsung and HTC since moving from Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 "a few" years ago. How is the Sony experience nowadays?

I feel the same way. Looking forward to the improvements in the VIII but if they are disappointing, I will just try to get myself a VII.
