Selling points of 1iii are : cam, sound and display. Pro-i is 1iii with better cam (except zoom skills). Would be weird to imagine other versions of 1 with even more focus on the other two things?

IMX383 on Xperia Pro-I, not only effective size is less than 1inch but actual size is, and this implies its effective size is less than 1/1.6inch

It is not the IMX383 Even on RX100 camera, the sensor itself is different from each generation to another

Promo material shows it is clearly not a 3:2. If I am not wrong 506 is 16:10.
Sharp is using 19mm (I suppose sony would have 19 too without crop) but did not want to crop like Sony.

I understand that this would be easier than making a 12MP 1/1.31" just for this phone (Semicon has one global shutter with this spec). But using motion eye sensor of 1" is very expensive too.

I remember only after 4th gen, the rx100 got motion eye sensor.

Is Pro-i a sign that sony is done with CyberShot cameras?

Sensor size types by inch are all nonsense really.

A 4/3 sensor isn't even 1", but it should be 1 1/3"

A 1/1.6" is less than half an inch, more like 1/2.2"

It's all some historical reasoning behind picture tubes or some nonsense, that's where calling it a 1" type sensor makes some sense as it's a type called a 1" sensor, but isn't really 1". They're all the same, smaller than the inch naming implies .

After having some looks at the next "1", Im pretty disappointed that they still retaining the lackluster buggy microSD reader implentation from the first gen "1". My fancy microSD card is limited at 50MB/s only, barely passed the UHS-1 certification Atleast we will get a LTPO screen

I have seen this "micro sd " thing.

On phones of other brands too.

Is it done on purpose?

Yes it is done on purpose Sony limits it at DDR50 mode (50MB/s bus speed). UHS-I standard contains two mode: DDR50 and SDR104 (104MB/s). You can only include support for DDR50 mode bare minimum but still passed as UHS-I compatible. On other brands such as Samsung, SDR104 is the norm (until they removed the microSD capability ).

A bit more OT: There are plenty of UHS-I microSD cards advertises their speed greater than SDR104 (>104MB/s). Thats because they use unofficial DDR208 mode (208MB/s). But thats useless because no Android phone supports it. So dont fall to the microSD trap Also UHS-I is the unofficial technical limit on Android phones, dont expect to see UHS-II support in the future (they can make it but no one have any interests doing so )

Thanks for the value added info! BTW my PC companion super seldom able to successfully read my micro SD card when plugged into my PC, even when I set my phone to USB connection. Do you guys encounter the same too? (Applies to many xperia mobiles ... )

Yay another first for Sony! 4k LTPO display! ~ saves battery life much! But as for the processor.....

Check if the microSD on your phone is set to "Adoptable Storage" mode. If yes then you need to migrate all your data off the card and re-format it. Android has this thing that you can either merge the microSD as "internal storage" or treat it as external/dedicated one.

Samsung oled can go as low as 10Hz, while Sharp oled goes 1Hz.

But obviously Sharp has higher cost due lower volume produced.

Is this new panel 10bit native? I know sony does the 8+2 because native 10bit would use even more power.

I am surprised people are not mad because Pro-i does not have the 1080@960fps..
