That's all good but i'm more concerned about software support sony promises 3 years but xz1 lasted till December 19 and xz2 series didn't go beyond may 20.

Isn't the Xperia 1 ii part of the Android open source project? Besides, if the 1 ii sells very well I am pretty sure, Sony will extend it's support for 1 ii.

swollen battery is just bad luck sometimes. your phone is out of warranty, just purchase a new battery and swap it in. not that big of a deal.

my XZP is over 3 years old and the battery is still solid. i don't get software updates anymore though. the last update was august 2019, which is in accordance with their update policy. i don't know where you read it is 3 years? some other companies do, like samsung.

2 years is google's minimum requirement to license android.

Engadget review now up on their website:
https://www.engadget.com/sony[....]-phone-in-years-150049871.html

For the 34th time. I know there's barely any left but a mod really needs to move this thread to the Sony Android section. Make me one and I'll move it....

put your charger on a timer so that your phone is not hooked up to power for long periods

Jump to 8:17 and 9:06. The high speed (panning) images blow me away. I don't think any smartphone can do this. This is the advantage of high speed auto focus.

I'm having a hard time preventing myself from pulling the trigger from pre-ordering the 1 II, especially with the deadline coming closer now. I really want the PRO because of 5G. Whatever phone I get will have to last me at least 3 years before I upgrade again, and don't want to be stuck with 4G when 5G is available. Anyone know of any news on if the PRO is even going to be released?

Kind of sucks that Amazon jacked up the price for the headphone bundle version.
