First world problems.
Honestly, battery isn't that good anymore.
I have replaced the battery every 5 years. All the batteries have been originals. Actually there was no urgent need to replace the battery. They all worked well, but did not last as long as when they were new. Just a bit less. |

a closer look at some x1ii accessories
specifically the style covers with stand and view. they don't look to be that great, imho.
the glass screen protector not covering the entire viewing area is a fail. i like the spigen case though. shows off the phone's design while protecting it.. but you are sacrificing some bulk with that.

video white balance doesn't matter cause you can easily change that if you want to. details and stabilization are more important for video.

OIS is the core of all the problems here and on X1. Ok, 4K doesn't jitter anymore but the lack of detail is evident when compared to X1, stabilization is way too aggressive. Since this is a new Optical Steadyshot or whatever I think they dropped Intelligent Active mode for 1080/30p that worked so well on X1/XZ3/XZ2 before. If they didn't drop it then they ruined it.
Unfortunately this video didn't do any HLG shooting so we could see what's going on there. |

From the video 1080 with 60fps now stabilize better than 30fps. Likely a glitch or programming part they left out?
Sound recording quality also seems to have no difference between wind filter on and off for the xperia 1II. Think programmers also forgot to program it (they send time more on 4k stabilization and photography pro?) Likely update after firmware update .

Not that from cam that looks purple, the 1 selfie has green hues.
1ii is doing better.
Both use same crappisocell.

@tai - you aren't going to notice wind filter if there isn't any wind. he says in the video there is barely any wind.
4k@30 - looks pretty good. good stabilization and good detail. wish we had some HDR scenes to see how it behaves
FHD@30 - decent details (but seem to be less than 1) and stabilization is a little jiggly and not silky smooth.
FHD@60 - horrendous. Stabilization is ok but details are a blur.
Front camera does seem to have a hint of red/purple hue in 1ii at first, but seems to get less and less as the video goes on. turning off stabilization seemed to change the shadows and color too... wonder hy?
still photos look pretty exciting to me. an improvement over the 1 for sure. lots more details
I need an upgrade and this is probably going to be it. Really hope photo Pro gets released soon so we can see what it can do.
1ii doesn't have a "night mode", right? the "night mode" on 10ii looks pretty good. Wonder why they don't do something similar on 1ii?
I WISH they would enable lens changes while recording. apple can do it, why can't sony?

I think I found why the FHD of 1 looks sharper than 1 ii.
The level of crop done by EIS seems higher for 1 ii.
More crop = lower resolution.
DPReview has the phone.
Sample seem very good.

dpreview also "confirms" $1200 price tag with xm3 headphones as a preorder gift again. shame the xm4s aren't out yet because the xm3s are only about $200 on sale these days. So this phone, if the price is true, is $1000.
not sure where they get their information from to "confirm" these details, but it's not much different from what we've already heard.
Photo samples look decent, but wide angle details are not very good. night time photography don't look great either.
definitely some noise even in daylight shots, which are noticeable in the shots above the pool. look at the leaves right over the pool water.
wonder if DPreview's unit has photo pro or not? curious if photo pro will give better results than the stock app.
