Would be happier if they came out with a nice top Chromebook,
I do not use any tablet since I got the Asus Chromebook flip 100/101. |

A Compact Tablet would go down a treat now. i can't see Sony selling an 11" tablet for less than the price of a decent Chromebook. I would consider £250 - £300 for a high-end Compact tablet though.

For me, waiting too long, it’s a no brainer for a compact! 🤷♂️ |

You know what I really miss? Sony VAIO.
Yes, I know VAIO still exists but it's not the same thing anymore. My XPS15 is getting dated and for the time being Dell don't offer anything interesting. I wish Sony would reacquire VAIO and blast with an XPS killer.
Yeah...I know, no chance, sadly. |

Instead of giving up on laptops, they should have moved to desktop.
Any company needs computers. Many companies needs tons of computers.
Now sony has to use from other brands, giving money to them.
Vaio was way out of my reach.
Like 50% more than Dell with very similar hardware.
My nephew had one, I dont think it was well built.
Looked bit cheap like samsung or lenovo laptop.
I want a dell xps 13", but too expensive.
My inspiron was bought in 2011.
Using it right now for school work.

All my laptops and desktops since the year 2003 are/were Sony Vaio. I had 4 desktops (including the all in one Vaio). I'm still using 2011 Vaio L21 until today. It still runs perfectly. I had 7 Vaio laptops. My last laptop/tab Vaio was Vaio Tap 11. Sony Vaio is the only brand I trust in PC especially the all in one.

I really did find the Z4 tablet + Keyboard and attractive but the price put me off somewhat.
The last Vaio I owned was a Vaio Fit e, the touchscreen version, which developed a lot of problems and didn't last a year. Since then I've had a Pixelbook, which doesn't make a good tablet because it's heavy and cumbersome to hold.
The Z3 Tablet Compact was IMO one of the best things I've ever purchased from Sony.

For me a Tablet is a big screen phone .. mostly without the phone, a Chromebook is more complete, it works like your desktop but also has Android or Linux apps ... the 101 was €279 with a touchscreen 4GB and 32GB storage and memory card slot.
Before I got the Chromebook(s) I always took my Nexus 7 with me to work.. no more.
At home I have Chromebooks from €129 Chromebit for my TV to a Chromebox with i7 and 16gb,
but I miss one from Sony. |

Totally agree with you and Ascariss! Reading this thread on my Z3TC right now lol. It works so great after so many years, I just had one battery replacement because it was swollen. It is the perfect size for me as well. A replacement tab would be so awesome for Sony to launch. PS I saw Nodar shoot down the tablet rumour on his twitter page....

But will fail since their is inferior by far.
It is ridiculous than HM1 with 1/1.33" performs worse than 1/1.7" imx555.
Anyway my wishlist for III is: 6.6" , 20MP 1/1.2" , 12MP 1/1.7" ultra wide, 12MP 1/2.6" 3x, 5K screen, 5000mAh , 30fps burst, usb 4.0, ufs3.1 (3.2 if available next year), Sony MicroMatrix for front cam with 8MP.

Samsung is actually gaining close marketshare now with Sony in the image sensor for smartphones. And it is impressive, I daresay successful for their attempt of reaching close to Sony.
Anyway, what's surprising here is that Samsung is selling their sensors for less than Sony.
Both Samsung and Sony are selling almost equal numbers of image sensor now. The difference is that Sony is having more than twice the revenue of Samsung due to more premium image sensors.
Samsung is slapping the community with their huge megapixel count but premium manufacturers aren't into them. At least, not yet

Desktop computers began a steady decline over the last 10-13yrs when laptops began getting decent enough to replace them. one might think/debate that yes desktop computers are still around and needed however there has been a steady decline over that time from the major manufacturers.
Toshiba now only makes ToughBook laptops, not desktops.
Acer barely makes desktops like they used to 20yrs ago and most now are All-In-One(AIO).
Gamers love to build their desktops yet have you noticed the trend the last 3yrs is to be smaller lately?!
The top 3 gaming company’s have been owned by the top PC manufacturers: Dell, HP, and Lenovo. These are global brands that each have global corporate desktop, laptop and laptop workstation computers for corporations to bolster and keep them well alive. The gaming computer companies were niche players and could not survive on their own.
For a company to now start making desktops is a fools errand because it not just sales, it’s the returns, and at least 3-5yrs spare parts to support the product cycle during and after end of production (if not lawsuits begin). AIOs maybe the smart move to begin now but laptops and eGPUs are the king now, we live in a mobile world and not much are going back unless you’re doing heavy video editing and movie creation.

Indeed Apple did! 2003 Apple brought the sex appeal and the sleekness with the PowerBook G4 (Titanium) and solidified it by creating the ultra book market with the MacBook Air.
