Well, XA2 came with curved back. Then Xz2 too.

Imagine if they could make a XZ Premium with the bezels of Note 9.
Isn't what people are waiting for?
1" is what they use inside CyberShot and RX100. The Mobile would never be allowed to use.
Because a 1" paired with monochrome, Aube and SD8150 the phone could even easily beat both and maybe those with 4/3.
Computational power of smartphone is huge. |

I wonder, with Sony now having a lineup of global shutter sensors I wonder if they will have a mobile variant at some point. |

Global shutter is very complicated story.
Not easy to get there.
I know Sony and Panasonic have patents of organic sensors.
I think imx300 and imx400 are the only multi-aspect, not even A7Riii has.
Sony Imaging Division is too powerful. Even Nikon uses their sensors.
Sensors for videography, photography, security, cars etc..
A7 III is the best seller Mirrorless FF.

I would love to see a source confirming that XZ3 uses an LGD screen. Also, from what I've heard Sony's OLED should be of higher quality due to the injection process - would you mind elaborating on that? |

I believe the oled from Joled is inkjet too, because Panasonic created Joled with Sony.
Looks like some posted on XB that talked to someone from one Sony's suppliers. He says he heard that XZ4 is Xz3 + new CPU + 6/128.
Sounds possible to me because a benchmark from weeks ago show single rear camera ( it even recognizes 19 as 18 MP)..

If it still has single camera then I would say that new CEO is bullshit as well.
SONY's not google thus they cannot push the single camera to it limit.

Any info on if the XZ4 is for CES?
They want to be the first 5G.
Many will have 5G in 2019, so being first not that important.

The dual camera module if massive, would rather have a single sensor if the phone remains as fat as it is. The XA3 should not be released, it's too expensive and ugly so I doubt anyone will want one. XZ4 needs to come in January for it to be the first 5G because MWC is too late. |

Two choice for that. Camera bump or the fat phone.

So if a told you all that Sony are working on a 5G device with a 4K HDR OLED display with quad cameras (2 front + 2 rear) with the 2nd gen AUBE fusion processor to be available by the end of Q1 who'd get excited?

If money is the limiting factor then nobody will get the XA3 because you will find cheaper, prettier and equally powerful phones out there. If you could check the XA2 and Ultra sales then we would know how poorly these sold.

If it looks like the XZ2 Premium then no, looks like the XZ3 then no as well. It needs to be a totally different device and not an incremental change.
If we get a new range (Compact, normal and Premium) with the indication of a new approach and genuinely positive change in direction then only then I would be interested because this XZ2 Compact is the lowest point in my phone history and has me flirting away with other companies to the point of a marriage breakdown.
As always, poor suckers who just the other day got their hands on the 'long awaited and eagerly anticipated' dual camera sensation that is the XZ2P are getting a kick in the nuts by Sony with this new device. The same goes for XZ3 users because I think those users will want the XZ4 straight away. |
