The S10 looks good, ticks all the boxes but overall uninspiring. Sony are trying something different, they need to pull it off. The S10 will remain the safe choice for Android but I can't see it selling more than the S8. S10E is interesting, it seems like a great option. The Compact if it comes should easily be cheaper so I hope they stick to their traditions and make it high end. I had really high hopes for the XZ4 Compact when I saw some prototypes, it would still be the king of all small devices even with the S10E. |

XZ4c wouldn't be the king of small devices, unless Sony will keep the small profile of the Compact model and (for God's sake, sony) make everything GREAT and not monotonous/as bad as the leaked XZ4c!
No matter what happens, an unsuccessful phone from Samsung will be sold more than any successful phones from Sony combined (at least for now).

Alvin is right, I have said same before.
Even if sales of Galaxy S drop 50%, it will still be more than all Xperia combined.
When Apple decided to drop SE was a clear sign of small phones were about to die.
Single sim was what kept me from having a compact.
It should not pass 13,5cm.
About the cam, I think they should stick with Hybrid AF and not use DP.
DP is hardware based, it has already reached its apex.
Hybrid being software based can be improved, just like they do with their mirroless.
More sensors with DP, more royalties paid to Canon.

This is a direct quote from GSM arena
"We now arrive at the Galaxy S10 5G's doorstep - we kept the ultimate S10 for last, because it'll launch later than the others plus it won't be as widely available"
This is exactly what I said about a week ago and the same will happen with the new Xperia 5G flagship with other devices and 4G versions of the same launching sooner.
A few people had a pop at that post but I wonder if anyone will have a go at Samsung for doing the same too. Keep your eyes peeled over the next few days, you just might be surprised! 😉

Well I am pretty sure that 95% of users (including me) dont give a f**k about 5G actually. 4G is enough at least for me.
Does having SD855 means 5G included? Will the early S10s without 5G still have SD855? (I am pretty sure they will). Just give us SD855 and I dont care at all if 5G is included in it or not.

^for 5G you need the X50 QC modem so you can get a SD855 4G S10 range.

Yes Niko...
Qualcomm is giving OEMs the choice if they want to use the 5G modem.
So they can only use where 5G is ready like USA, South Korea and Japan.
For places where 5G wont exist before 2022, they can sell same devices with 4G ...
The purple is 100% for sure.
Is the copper coming back too?
I've asked them many times past few years.
I also need the blue of XZs.
Nobody here ever said if flagships are glass, metal , ceramic or carbon fiber.

New fancy marketing from Samsung
Dymanic AMOLED
Which is just another name for the same Amoled that we all know, only because there is now HDR10 + support, which Samsung is the owner
Now everyone says that it produces 1000 nits of brightness, but in reality it is only a peak on a small surface of the screen. |

Display Mate can only fprce beyond 1000 nots when they measure brightness at a spot equivalemt to 1% of screen.
No oled phone can pass 700 without consequences.
That is why most offer manual below 500 and auto below 700.
If you have LCD you can keep it running 800 for exemple 24/7.
It is just gonna get warmer and use more battery.
I cant imagine that Sony prototype tv screen with 10000 nits.
800 is too much already for my eyes.

The S10E is still a bit too big to be considered compact, I would actually be happy with a 5.2 inch screen in a nice package from Sony. |
