Sony Xperia Rumours 2019 |

It is amazing that while smartphone sales in general have slowed, Sony did so poorly last year. The XZ2 was the best device they made in their history for that period of sales and it sold nothing. The thing that kills the XZ2 is that its massive and ugly. The XZ2 Compact was a great device but so hideous. I guarantee the XZ3 did no better than the XZ2. Comfort and compactness are so important, I bet less than 100 XZ2 Premiums were sold regardless of the excellent hardware.
I feel that Sony should only do a 5.5 inch and a Premium device. Mid rangers take last year's cheap but powerful SD8XX and camera sensors etc to actually make them run smoothly and put them in plastic bodies. Sony is in pure survival mode now, I think this is their final attempt to recover before quitting. |

design is a matter of opinion but yes, sony's phone design has been off in recent years. sony mobile isn't going anywhere though. people were writing them off 5 years ago as being their "last year" but they're still around. xz3 definitely sold much better than xz2 and xz2p definitely sold more than 100 units. that's a bit silly to presume they sold just 100 units.
a 5.5 inch screen on today's market is not enough. they need to decrease the body size and increase the STB ratio, which it seems they have been doing. The "xz4" seems to be similar size to an iphone x max.. you don't see anybody complaining about an iphone x max.
It always boggles my mind when people complain about things with sony but don't complain about the same with other manufacturers.
sure badassmam, you like small phones to fit in your pockets, but i think you are in the minority on this one. although i will say that I think 6" screen is about as big as a phone should get before it gets to the point where you should just carry around a tablet.
not too long now til MWC... let's hope sony can impress.

Did anyone looked at the black phone of ToF video?
At first it looks like iPhone, but too many buttons on the side.
The white one must be any galaxy clone.
I think Max has size of 8+.
This Xperia is as tall as xa1u.
That is what I say, a CON for one not always is a CON against another phone.
Iphone 8 Plus is heavier than xz2, no site complained.
Except Apple , Google and OnePlus because these dont have midranges; all other need midranges to keep marketshare.
Samsung would drop to 40 or less if they had only S and N.

Well, Xperia kind of gives them a reason to complain. XZ2 was heavy and bulky for no reason. Now they are going overboard with the aspect ratio. We'll see how it'll turn out.
Do you guys think this Xperia Alpha 1 naming is true? I doubt it. I'd get Cyber-Shot/RX but Alpha is another level. Unless they improved the camera very very significantly I don't think they'd put such a branding on a phone. It'd be the best camera on a phone like ever. |

I thought the rumor was they were going to use the CineAlta branding, which is far above the Alpha branding. Has that been debunked? |

They are just going to market the phone as with cine alta capability.. Not name it as such i think
Actually sony deliberately made a stupid device the xz2 and
then released xz3 which is what the xz2 should have been
And i have read in several places that sony is nerfing their phone cameras purposefully so that their point and shoot cameras are not out of the equation

They did that already way back during Sony Ericsson era.
I had the K750i. At first they would improve the image quality from its release date. Then I remember they released a FW update that would degrade the image quality pretty significantly. You would see noise banding in the darker parts of the image, which wasn't a problem before. As far as I can tell, they never corrected either. So that made me think SE lowered the quality deliberately.

Sounds like they advertise XZ3 as BRAVIA OLED lol

Surely sounds like it https://www.instagram.com/p/B[....]hare_sheet&igshid=fzusokgaj2wh
But they aren't branding it with that name. The Alta brand is going to have "for mobile" in it. They also talked a lot about how they are bringing Sony tech to mobile but since cyber shot and Walkman phones of past they never used any in their phone names, they even removed Walkman name from the app.
At least give the phone to alpha reviewers, if they praise it, that might bring them new customers. |

@Moogoo
Apple is different, people who want their ecosystem have no choice but to buy their stuff so they'll accept it. I see many with the iPhone X and sure people buy the larger one. What I'm saying is that why get the XZ2 when the S9+ has a bigger screen, smaller footprint and is thinner? Everyone even shitty Huawei gives more hardware in a smaller more desirable body. There was no compelling reason to get the XZ2, I got the XZ2 Compact because I'm a fan but the S9 was better. It's a fact and the sales show. XZ2 Premium has great hardware but the design compromise is too much. I'm using a XZ1 now, it's got big bezels but it's beautiful and performing like a monster. The next step was to minimise the bezels in this body rather than making that XZ2 monstrosity. Sales are very telling, with this level something will be cut and usually that is R&D so I'm hoping that they are recovering starting from MWC. |

Xz2 and premium were the biggest mistakes from sony in recent years
Premium even with all that hardware was poor when it comes to practicality
And xz2 had to compete with the likes of s9+ p10 pro etc both of which offered way more at a marginal increase in price |

There is no " let's cap the phone to keep selling cybershots".
If costumer dont buy xperia, they'll buy something else.
Compacts are losing ground because phones can be:
1) pocket cam , good enough for social network pic
2) pocket computer
3) pocket TV
4) pocket music player
Much easier and cheap to have one great phone than buying a TV, cybershot, walkman and laptop.

The point and shoot cameras will become obselete soon and that is what i want... Then atleast sony will open their eyes and put all their imaging expertise into xperia.... If they focus on xperia cameras like they should have then it will be a major boost for the sales of xperia flagships... Sony needs something to attract new costumer base and once people gets the taste of sonys true quality they won't turn to apple or samsung
I hope sony mobile stays strong through this tough time |

Well Tony said QHD one is not premium. But it's nice to see 8/256 they never really offered alternative storage before. Battery is a little bit low but I wasn't expecting anything better. The teaser for mwc had a blue frame right? Hmm. |
