My point is:

If with iso 400 and 1/15s for example you can have same quality of iso 100 + 1/2s then OIS is no longer necessary.
Also even phones with OIS can blur pics with SS 1s..

Nope. They uploaded and unlisted at the day of official online launch. People can access from the official page.

You can't have same quality with higher ISO, higher ISO = less quality.

The best combination is good quality lens allowing high ISO and OIS. If Sony wants to be on top of mobile camera market they must consider this.

I didn't know that very first Sony Alpha 7 was introduced same year as Xperia Z (2013)

In five years time, they make introduces 9 major models, two of them already won grand prize in camera industry.

Beaten up major player like Canon and Nikon, in their own field of specialist

then, I have no wonder why they still have such a confident for mobile turnaround

but how and when would really interesting questions as currently of financial and sales in deep struggle

previously head of camera division also now in charge as CEO of Xperia,,, what the change will bring

I thought Premium is the new Ultra since Z5P launch. Yeah, they're not the same because of the different screen sizes between the two and no pencil support.

You should try 18:9 display. I think it is great for overall daily use but a bit annoying only when viewing 16:9 pictures and videos (only a bit).

I like the 16:9 ratio more. Plus the thinness of Z Ultra is still unbeaten. 6.5 millimeters...

No go for OIS in Xperia in my opinion

Jelly effect, power hungry (yes camera playing the battery so bad Sony using low power sensor variant in XZ2P), cant disable right away when you dont need it and hard to combine with some of the camera effects. Also making the camera package larger than the one now If you want hump or curved back then no comment, at worst say goodbye to small bezels

What has jelly effect, dual camera? And you mean it will have a big hump/curve in back and big bezels?

Is this IFA phone or next year/MWC?

He's talking about OIS equipped cameras, and reasons why OIS is unlikely for a new Xperia

I have seen samples of XZ2p compared to XZ2, P20 Pro and G7..
Yes, it can give you better quality than other devices even if iso is 200, 400, 600 more.
Noise can easily be removed with edition..

@pigletsquid Phones with OIS show jelly effect during video recording, gyro EIS does not do it.

Just coincidence but the date on the XA2 plus corresponds to an actual day this year, so Thursday august 30th.

Found the page for the schedule if it still will work.
https://b2b.ifa-berlin.com/Press/PressConferences/index.jsp

On the ifa site, there is this, not sure it was written like this before in previous years, maybe, don't recall. Probably means nothing, but it could be something. Unless someone can find last years page on IFA's site showing the schedule for the press conferences which shows the same thing.

Also I am sure this was mentioned but like the XA2 plus, the XZ2 and XZ2c have the date of sunday feb 25th, again corresponding to the actual day this year for MWC, feb 26th was when it officially started. And maybe surprisingly, the XZ2 premium has the same date on it's press photos, meaning, like speculated on here, it was most likely going to debut at MWC 2018 but pulled in the last moment.

Yeah I knew that. Since the 'official launch' on July 11th, the views are still somewhere around 100k for that video but only since three days ago I saw a huge increase in the number of views.

----------------

As much as I love XZ2, I'd love to see the phone look like this, too.

It looks amazing.

Does this mean the new design won't have a curved back?

IFA press conference August 30..

Wonder what they'll announce..

My guess is xz3. Probably not a premium but possibly since xz2 p is only available in certain markets
