Yeah this seems like a new rock-bottom, honestly giving me second thoughts about waiting for Sony IFA to get my next phone... |

Did anyone check the FCC ID docs to see any info about them?
This one does not show up: FCC ID PY7 P04685Z
The other two are real. All I saw was that somewhere there is written : short-term confidentiality realease date : Oct 1st and Oct 6th

@HxH: really? I've never seen HTC users complaining too much about their phones, so I'm surprised for you to say so.
@badassmam: I think iPhone SE2's rumour was also fishy. They are focusing on X series this year.
@M-Ali: yeah, I just saw the news. I don't want Sony to follow Nokia's approach for their phone's UI. Their next phones would look just like any other Android One phones, except if they're using Pixel 3's launcher.
-------------
The new CEO's strategy is showing. They're about to give up on mobile.
Daily Drivers: Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Ultra, and iPhone 14 Pro Max Secondary: vivo X80 Pro Still using as a backup: Xperia XZ2 Still using (not as much): Galaxy Tab A 8.0 |

Yup, it's been hidden since XZ1 info.
It's on Appendix A file which is now a part of confidential documents.

" short-term confidentiality release date (MM/DD/YYYY format): 11/21/2018"
Does this mean when device will be out?
The other two say first week of October.. |

no, the date is simply 180 days after approval date.
After that date, some documents such as user manual etcs will be opened to public.
This is why sumahoinfo says there are at least three xperia devices announced within this year.

The main reason HTC is struggling is because of their lack of relationship with carriers, particularly in the US. In the UK even you rarely ever see HTC phones in shops (something at least Sony is able to maintain). If you don't put your products in front of customers, you're off to a false start. Only die-hard HTC fans and phone enthusiasts will even know their new device is out and will be willing to buy it outright/direct from them online.
To compound this further, HTC's support seems pretty poor. Even in Elevate people often complain about the poor or lack of support. There's only so many bad experiences with a company someone can take before they say never again.
My only support experience with them was... preordered a phone, cancelled preorder, they then emailed me asking if I definitely want to cancel it because they were about to send it (even though they had confirmed previously it was cancelled) and then proceeded to send it anyway. Then it took me about 14 calls and emails just to be able to send the unopened product back within the 30-day return period. Doesn't give me much faith in how it would be if I was actually getting something repaired |

Canceling Track ID wasn't a big issue - there's Shazam - it was a logical step. Recently they've canceled their weather app and that too isn't that bad since it was basically a sony interface for info coming from AccuWeather. It appears that Sony would also like to ditch the Xperia calendar which I personally prefer to Google's. That too won't be the end of the world.
But canceling their interface? What will replace it, stock Android? A bloated Samsung style UI? This is quite worrying to be honest. |

Probably stock. Why would they "cancel their interface" so as to presumably reduce costs, by making a new, bulkier interface instead. Makes no sense. |

It could be that Sony believes that it may help sales. However, as far as I recall, they claim they are not planning to sell as much as the big ones and no where near those figures. So yeah, I guess you're correct and it'll be stock. |

Cost-cutting and trimming down unnecessary divisions that deemed not worth the money invested in...Also some related to other Sony companies strategy. For example TrackID closed down due to Sony sold Gracenote..... |

I hope no stock android.
Because important stuff would be gone.
Like Stamina, RGB control, cam app, X Reality..
I do like Album, Music and Video.
The only thing they can kill is Whats New..
Nothing more.
