Except cpu/gpu , amount of ram and storage, OnePlus phones are no better than midranges.
As long as LG has super wide angle camera, their DxO score will be low.
Bokeh and optical zoom give a huge advantage.
Check top 10.
Only Pixel 2 is single cam.
All other 9 have telephoto / optical zoom.
And all this mistery around XZ2 Premium , it must be very very special.
It is being kept behind a 1000 doors.

I certainly hope its special. Special with a headphone jack.
And no. I won't stop complaining about headphone jacks.
Ever. |

I dont deny that I feel tempted to buy Ear Duo.
But if XZ1 is last flagship with jack, I will miss it as much I will miss the Xperia Keyboard and Screen Recorder.
I have all these 3 itens atm.

Just curious, but for those who are upset about the removal of the headphone jack what are your feelings towards the dongle? Are you firmly against using it? Based on GSMArena's review the XZ2 with the dongle produces better quality audio than the XZ1 with its built in headphone jack, so it's not all bad I think. |

One of my complaints against the dongle is it's shape and the need to carry another thing with us, I prefer to have a standard charging cable with built in 3.5mm jack in third the length...
And with Son'y implementation of the dongle, it doesn't support Quick Charging, it's actually limited to 5V 0.5A, meaning if you're doing something demanding like playing the phone won't be able to charge as it will consume more than what the dongle can provide..

Then they should use a higher quality DAC. A dongle is another thing to lose or forget. And I don't care to do that.
The most insulting thing with the XZ2 is that they give you headphones with a 3.5mm jack. Don't even bundle a USB-C set of headphones with the phone.
Wireless headphones are great. I have the WH-1000xm2. They're great. But nothing matches the versatility of a 3.5mm jack. Forgotten headphones? By a cheap £5-10 burner set at a nearby shop and use it seamlessly.
There is literally no benefit to removing a the jack, besides a few cubic mm of space. Inclusion of a headphone jack does not mean you can't have bluetooth. They're not mutually exclusive. Heck, phones have had both for years.
This is literally a case of following Apple for the sake of following Apple and I hate it. Why does Apple get to dictate the development of technology. Why can't another company have the balls to be confident in its own direction than to mindlessly follow a company who's mindshare, brand value and profit they cannot hope to match in the next decade?
Apple is doing this because they want to lock users into their little garden. Want the best experience? Buy a W1 enabled set of headphones - which they have an effective monopoly over. Want to make W1 enabled headphones, better pay the licencing fee/royalties.
Why are other companies doing it? Because Apple is doing it. Sony at least make wireless headphones, but as mentioned above there is no benefit to the consumer. Only a restriction of options.
I'd prefer to have a choice in the matter. |

I think Sony should give the option to choose between wired and wireless.
Removing the jack does not mean someone who owns XZ2 will necessarily buy wireless headphones from Sony.
There are great products from other brands.
I see that the adapter works like the tv antenna of M5, you connect earphones there.
But the dongle is awful.
They should at least give in the box a usb earphones like Htc and Apple.
Better than the adapter.
There is also the lack of QC 3.0 for the dongle.
I understand it is business, also the fact that Mobile has to accept orders from above.
But the lack of headphone jack keeps many costumers away.

I could use 1000x only for one week It lack the strong impact for Rock/Metal genre...
Adjust the EQ really ruin the balanced.
Also signal jam in shopping mall really annoying so much that we can't use high quality connection...
We have to use SBC for stable connection and it quality is... horrible.

Sony is selling sensors with DRAM to everybody.
Not fair to Mobile Division.
At least they could have waited 1 more year.
P20 Pro, S9/S9+ ( probably Snapdragon version).
I will not feel surprised if iphone 9 does 960fps too |

@Moe
It's because they had to. Samsung has it's own version so it was either lose all the S9 sale or just half of them.

I don't see the problem. The mobile division got a 1 year exclusive access to the latest and greatest sensor, and now Sony is opening it up to other companies so they can earn some cash. Next the mobile division will no doubt get access to the latest and greatest with the dual cam setup. |

Then they cant complain about losing costumers.
Everything the Xperia bring, then they hand over to others.
I read once that A1E has STE technology. I dont know if is true.
And also that LG had interest to pay for use it.
Then why someone would choose a Bravia over a LG if you can have same quality of image?

Who says they're complaining? Sony's different divisions have a responsibility to earn money first and foremost above all else. The image sensor division gave exclusive access to Sony Mobile for an entire year to a new sensor technology with a desirable feature. That's more than reasonable, now they have to earn some more money off that tech. This year they'll have a new camera tech to offer the Sony Mobile division in the form of the dual camera with the fusion image processor, and no doubt that tech will be exclusive for about a year or so and then Sony I'm sure there'll be more new tech to make exclusive to Sony Mobile.
Sony's imagine division is just offering last years hot tech to the competition while keeping this years hot tech to Sony mobile, I don't really see the problem with this. It could be the new camera tech was supposed to be ready for MWC along with a new Premium phone, but has been delayed. |
