An article on Sumahoinfo says it is the ZL 2.
Phone for japanese market in 2014.
A small version of Z2, same specs.
The bezel compared to Z5c does not seem even 2mm shorter.
This phone on the machine ( maybe XZ2c) looks 21:9 to me.

The Z5 Compact was always a fatty but this is old prototype or a ultra low end device. This design is no way an improvement over the loop even if it has no bezels or whatever. |

Yes... Just zoom into both pictures and see the similarities...
@Moe87, look closer, bezels are much smaller than z5c... |

I mean the fat phone beside Z5c does not seem to have much different bezel size.
If this phone on the machine is the XZ2c, all Sony is going to get is to see all tech sites say it should be XZ1c.
It is just an streched version of X Compact.
I like the loop, but they should just leave it to midranges and do something new for all flagships, not just the 4K.

@moe can't be ZL2, ZL2 had round power button. |

If that is the next flagship compact I guess I am done with the brand. Ugly as shit and they can't even bother to design the power button. |

why are you complaining about the design of the power button? most other flagship power buttons are just a simple button like the camera shutter on our xperias.
anyway.. i think we'll see a drastic design change for sure. the "plate+human" design seems likely based on the teaser tweet. not sure how i like such a design, which kinda seems like a lump on the back in a more "natural" material, which just looks ... awkward? But, i'll reserve judgment til actual photos come out. I really can't remember seeing a Sony phone that i just thought was ugly.

Xperia L1 / L2? Power button?
Also
Sony Ericsson A8i and Sony Ericsson Hazel had the 'human curve' design
Something for the memories

Based on the leaked documents designs from few years ago it is highly likely that the last leaked photo is the real design of the upcoming devices. The back looks awful imo. |

If the leaked photo is real the its defeneitly a low end smartphone ..(due to normal power button)I wish it's not bcz it's even looks ugly for a $100 smartphone..
And according to FCC the thickness of 5.7 " device is just 7.3 mm something..
Don't worry guys.. Flagship will be definitely an eye catcher..

The blue phone looks different to the phone that is next to Z5c. The blue phone in the machine looks like a bezelless XZ1 with 18:9 display. The phone next to Z5c looks like the ZL2 but with less top bezels and sony logo at the bottom.
I don't think the new flagship will look like that. It is either a low end phone, a cancelled phone, or an old phone.

The fat phone has same power button of L1.
It also does not seem to have front speaker.
Maybe it would be a prototype of R2 or potential E6. |

Xperiablog are reporting only a XZ2 and XZ2c at the show, no XZ pro or whatever it is called at MWC for now. Maybe this will change and Sony will show off the "Pro" model but no reporters will be able to test it or handle it?
