You are right tsepz , my apologies it seems that I was wrong. Still I don't get how would samsung phones get 4k 60 fps recording as the ones in US are Snapdragon powered. If S8 doesn't get it it may mean that Note 8 has a newer generation of Snapdragon

@rikken and @>500

Please could you kindly confirm the amount of available internal storage ? I know we discußed this in the past but it would be interesting to confirm on a final retail version. Also does Bixby come activated or you have to activate it like on S8 ? I keep mine deactivated - I like having that option . Many thanks

aussie: On my 64 GB the system takes up 10,9 GB. Bixby needs to be activated. I am no fan of Bixby so I have installed the bxActions app and remapped the Bixby-button to activate Do-Not-Disturb.

aussie: today my phone has been off charger for 10 hours and I have 70% juice left. Only 1 hour and 10 min sot due to busy day at work. Will report more later, need a few charging cycles before it is optimised.

interesting review . The Note 8 is as expected an excellent phone. Battery life is though inferior to S8 plus which is a shame. Screen is also slightly less brighten s8 plus but everything ekse is brilliant (incl the Soen an sweet dual camera set up ). I am still on two minds about this phone.

The Note8 OBLITERATES the S8/S8+ at Multitasking! that extra 2GB RAM has made a huge difference, check this out:

This ain't no S8+ with an SPen, this is a whole new league of workhorse, apparently using Samsung DeX with a Note8 is also a big leap in experience.

Having 29 apps open without reloading is impressive however I struggle to see an advantage for a normal user . (Surely this would affect the battery life too)

Note 8 has 2 extra GB of RAM so it was always going to be better at multitasking however I would argue that having 7-8 apps open without reloading like on S8 plus is enough for most users . To me the extra RAM is better at the split screen (running the 2 apps in parallel) and I imagine that the dual camera might be using some extra RAM too (and like tspez said Dex too will probably run better using Note )

Anyway I think it is clear that Note 8 is a better phone than the S8 plus ( to me the dual camera and Spen are more tempting than the number of apps open without reloading ). If it wasn't Samsung wouldn't have charged more than it does for S8 plus. It's just that with S8 plus getting discounts for many it might be a better value for money . Shame it doesn't have a larger battery even though it still seems like the battery life is good enough

Aussie,

I think for me the 29 apps opened was just a good way of showing, how much of a difference the extra RAM makes despite the fact that the Note8 has SPen features. In terms of real life usage , I've been setting up my Note8 all day while also working and going to meetings and what has good out is how it kept every single thing I did in RAM from the moment I booted it the 1st time.

As you can imagine setting up a new phone at work ain't exactly easy when there's other distractions, lol, so I'd get through half of a thing I'm doing on anyone then run off somewhere come back and start something else and much later remember what I was busy with before.

Thank you Rikken it's so good to be back on a large display and with the SPen again. I love how hefty and large this Note8 is, feels so solid.

To think I was either going to get a S8+ or XZ Premium, i was going to kick myself if I missed out on this beast

I have already got series loaded (Narcos season 3 and Al Chapo season 1) loaded, as well as a ton of automotive YouTube videos waiting for me to be watched in 1440P@60FPS in Watch Later on this glorious display.

Will give the battery a good few cycles and see how that does to.

I have setup both Finger Print Scanner and Iris Scanner, glad we are able to use either 1 when unlocking as we see fit. I must have larger than normal hands as I really do not struggle to reach the Finger Print Scanner but it is more cumbersome than being on the front especially when I want to unlock the device when it's lying on a flat surface.

I am already using the Span even when editing this post, so great to have a precision instrument to poke the display with.
