Oh, boy. Here is a really inter-es-ting news.
http://www.phonearena.com/new[....]-dog-to-3-market-share_id93849

Samsung phones China sales drop like a rock from top dog to 3% market share. I sure remember the days when sammy boys gleefully drop this kind of article in the sony forum and pretend to be a crystal gazer and proudly proclaim Sony mobile will shut down in 2015. Now I understand why. This is really fun. . Sony mobile division not been closed and now this news will probably make those people really cranky.

Although I'm doubtful but I hope S8 will help samsung regain chinese share even slightly.

Thank you it us clearer now . I am excited too about the new Note (possible the 4k screen )

Daviep

Enjoy the new phone and congratulations. Would be nice to read more impressions from an actual phone user . Thank you for confirming that eye recognition works well

And a link from Android police

5 little things I love about Galaxy S8 and Galaxy s8 plus

http://www.androidpolice.com/[....]ings-love-galaxy-s8-galaxy-s8/

Can you imagine how incredible a 4K SuperAMOLED will be when at the moment Samsungs 2K SuperAMOLED is already whipping the floor with 4K IPS LCDs. I truly cannot wait for that Note 8

Congratulations Daviep! Enjoy it!

It sure looks like Samsung did their homework right.
Every new phone on the market has a few with bad parts or a software bug.
The complaints today are only small.

He's just trying and failing hard to annoy me Hans LOL! The XZP that was announced at MWC months ago is still not out so what more can he do.
Don't bother trying to be logical with him.

I must say, I'm a bit bored already of all these H1 phones, the S8 range has lost its appeal to me, they are great devices but my S7 Edge is running so beautifully , I'm getting incredibly good battery life and the phone in general is so similar to the S8 range that I'm really not feeling the FOMO I used to feel while waiting for the Note of the year.

Waiting to try a friend's brand new imported OnePlus 3T next weekend.

A colleague of mine got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 the other day, I was blown away at how well built and fluid it was. I really want to give the Huawei Mate 9 a go to, really like where they are headed.

All this is helping me wait for the Note 8 and possibly Note 9 if my S7 Edge continues to be this brilliant

Android's new update policy. This will supposedly improve update speed. Hopefully this will also speed up laggy samsung update policy. Afterall it takes them upto six months to deliver latest OS.

Update: looks like some unlocked S7 and S7 edge are only now getting their nougat update. So basically 8 months after google release their OS. Samsung should be ashamed of their update policy. Of course userbase can play a role here. They need to be more vocal about their update. Paying top dollor and receiving major os update this late is totally unacceptable. Then again docile userbase who is happy with anything they got is other thing entirely.

Project Treble sounds great, lets see if all OEMs stick to it. Lucky for us Samsung usually put features into Android like Multiwindow, Vulkan API, Multi item clipboard, HEVC support, Ad Blocking in the built-in web browser etc...long before Google or other manufacturers put it into their OS or phones, so we tend to have them before the Android Update that brings it to the others even arrives anyway.

Sounds like Android O is bringing some much needed change, let's now see how long Google supports the Pixel.

Google announced that Pixel is receiving updates until October 2018. So it looks like Android P update is certain . Then security updates for another year or 18 months .

As far as updates are concerned for Samsung they are not great but neither is Sony . I think only HTC and Moto are good in this area (except for Google Pixel)

Indeed. I have not really paid much attention to the updates situation as I have always seen it as a part of Android we just have to live with.

Each one of my phones have received the latest updates until I upgrade to the next one, so I'm not even worried.

But all Android OEMs including Google need to work on it. To think my old iPad 4 that I have passed on to my little sister (they need iPads at school), is running the latest iOS despite being 5years old now, and is mostly still smooth, same with the iPhone of that year, which I believe was iPhone 5.

Hmm...as long as SAMSUNG rolls out security updates for longer it should be fine. Like Tsepz_GP mentioned, fortunately ..at least so far, SAMSUNG has had quite a lot of features in their build before Google has made it official. That itself made the upgrade to 7.0 feel like not a big leap. Anyway, if Google can find a way for unified updates..awesome.

Yep, the Android 7 upgrade didn't really bring anything us Samsung users didn't have already. It was more of an under the hood update for us.

Even in terms of Power Saving, Samsung has the most customisable Power Management tool to n Android it seems and it's been like that since the Galaxy S2.

You are not being fair to the Samsung haters man, the very websites they picked to try post negative things are going against their negative narrative they've been so desperately trying to push in here

Anyone use both Daydream and Gear VR? I know Gear VR has a lot more content, but this announcement makes the Galaxy S8 series the best VR entertainment devices around, supporting both DD and GVR

Galaxy S8 will become a Google Daydream-ready device soon
https://www.sammobile.com/201[....]le-daydream-ready-device-soon/

Seems it's doing quite well.

Update: 10 million shipped) Samsung sold more than 5 million Galaxy S8 units
